  1. Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I bought a car privately a few days ago. I saw the car for sale on ebay, I then went to look at the car and the seller offered to sell it to me there and then for £1800. I had taken my partner and his brother with me. Both of them know a bit about cars, the simple things. They checked the car over and my partners brother test drove the car. The car is question is a 206cc and the sellers showed me how it works, they put the roof down and then back up again before the test drive. My brother in law noticed a problem with front passenger side wheel which he thought was a problem with the wishbone. We questioned this and the seller was adamant there was nothing wrong with it. It had had an MOT 4 weeks previously. The seller said it must just be the tracking. I asked if there was any other problems and they said definately not. They told me they had owned the car for about a month and had bought it off their sister who had owned it years. They said they had bought it and due to financial problems needed to sell it. I trusted this as didnt see a reason they would lie. However, the following day, someone noticed a few problems with the car. I got it looked at by a mechanic who gave me a whole list of problems and said it could no way of passed a real MOT inspection recently. I had some of the work done to it and i know nothing about cars but was shocked at the bits that came off the car. It was very dangerous. Since having some of the more serious issues repaired, there are some more and there is a big problem with the roof. It goes up and down fine but if it is driven with the roof down as soon as you hit a bump in the road the car alarm thing goes off and the roof stops working. It is believed to be a problem with a sensor that thinks the roof has malfunctioned. I believe this is why the seller showed me how the roof works but put it back up before the test drive. I have contacted the MOT garage and explained what the mechanic told me and they are looking into it, however they informed me of who had bought the car in for the MOT and that it was a trader not the seller or her sister. I emailed the seller with all my problems and they carried on lying that she got it from her sister. I have been emailing her for 2 days and today she has admitted she lied about it being from her sister. Since then i have found a receipt hidden in the car that the car was taken to a mechanci a couple of weeks ago due to a problem with the roof. The seller has now started being very rude and told me to take legal action. I have had a look on the net and it seems i can take her to the small claims court if i can prove she sold the car: 1. Unroadworthy 2. Didnt tell me of any faults that i can prove she was aware of. Can anyone advise me what i should do next. I have spent alot of money on the car and was told no faults, then spent on a mechanic to fnd out problems, then spent money on parts to fix some of the problems. I bought the parts and a friend who is very good with cars fitted them for me. I still have the old parts to show how bad condition they were and some of the problems havent even been fixed yet. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. So stupidly i bought the car.
