Hi guys, firstly may i say what an excellent forum. Just been reading through a few other threads and was amazed at the prompt help people have received. Out of the blue i received a liability order that was granted in 2007 for council tax arrears for the previous year. I am guessing that they found my current address now that i have passed my driving test and have written to me. During the 06 period they say i owe £1167 when i was actually a student doing a HND. At this time i was living in a student house but some of the other tenants were not students. I can get a back dated exemption form from the college i was at but when i phoned the council office they said to send it with a letter explaining the situation and "touch wood" i would have the debt removed. Im not quite sure what they meant by "touch wood" as it seems a clear cut case. A few things are bothering me is that they may want to know who else was living at the property and i dont want to drop anybodies name in the firing line. Im also a bit miffed as to why they had a court session without me knowing back in 2007. Could someone tell me how to proceed with this and what information i should include in my letter?
