Hi, well over a year ago my partner received several phone calls regarding a debt that is now at least 10 years old. After hearing nothing for at least 18 months he got a letter today from the company AKTIV CAPITAL saying that he has been put on the red option entitiling him to pay £10 per month to clear an apparent outstanding balance of £6853.08. The situation is that he had a car on lease and had payment protection plan on it so when he lost his job he wasn't liable to pay it. I was already to go ahead and start paying the £10 per month but reading through the forums it appears that as the debt is over 6 years old he can't be chased for it. We are also about to move house and change phone numbers to I don't know if anymore letters or calls - which have dried up completelt anyway - will come through. Should he contact the company or is it best just to leave it as with the supposed debt being well over 6 years old he isn't liable for it anyway? Thoughts and help please - life is stressful with the move and I can't cope with much more!!!
