  1. Welcome are constantly adding on Capitalisation/HPDI fee, so for every payment I make, it doesn't end up making any difference on the account as they add on a ridiculous amount (that varies) every month. This debt is going to spiral out of control, and although I have told Welcome that there is no way that I will be able to pay back car loan amount, especially if they keep adding these on, they do nothing. Any advise on what I can do please. Many thanks

  3. Sorry to be a pain, but would really appretiate some advise as soon as is possible, as Welcome have put a time limit on me replying, and I am extremely worried at the moment. Thank you so much.
  4. A bit long winded, but am trying to give as much info as possible, please help. On 26th June 2004, I went to Chiswick and visited the car show room of Welcome Finance and decided to buy a Citreon Saxo with this company, they sold me what I thought to be a good deal. At the time I was in desperate need of a vehicle to get to work as I am a single mother. A guy named James Thomas then spent the majority of the day trying to give me what I thought was a good deal, and after a lot of pressure and just wanting to leave as I had my two year with me, he eventually convinced me to take out the loan for the car. They were so helpful, that they even drove me themselves to the nearest cash point so that I could withdraw £75 as a deposit for the vehicle. The total amount that I would of had to pay was £4989.24 which I did think was a lot, but like I said I was desperate and this seemed like a simple thing. I agreed to pay 48 months of £173.99, which included all payment protection insurance. Unfortuantely, I had to go from working full time to part time, and fell into debt which included not being able to pay my regular monthly payments to Welcome Finance. The people based at the branch in Stevenage regularly telephoned me, sent me letters and even visted my home, badgering me to make the full payments. I went into the branch and they got me to sign a modified hire purchase agreement in september 2005, which stated that i was to pay £114.88 each month for a total of 7 years, and they then took off the payment protection which they said was to enable them to reduce the payments and even though this was very tight for me I was scare mongered into agreeing. The total amount that I had to pay back also went up to £9649.92. In February 2006, I defaulted on my payments due to no longer working and was sent a default notice. I consequently contacted Welcome and spoke to someone who advised me to disregard the letter as it was a formality and they also told me that a termination letter would be sent, which i duely received and which informed me that my hire purchase agreement was terminated but in a contradictory paragraph it said that they may at their discretion be able to establish an arrangement to prevent the termination. By June 2006, I took all of my paperwork to the CAB and they wrote with a financial statement to show that I could only afford £15 a month. I have mis placed some of my paperwork, but from what I can see, I sent them a cheque for £25 in October 06 and then completed a DD form for £15. They continued to badger me, asking me to pay more. Between Oct 06 till February 2010, I put my payments up from £15 to £30. In February 2010, a family member offered me a small amount of money to put a settlement forward to Welcome of £1250,00. They did not respond to my letter and I telephoned them on numerous occasions asking them what their decision was. They adventurely told me that it had been declined and that if they were to accept a settlement it would be £6324.74, which I have in writing. I said to them that I did not have those types of funds and that I would continue to pay the £30 that i was already regularly paying. They asked me to complete a new Income and Expenditure form and send with bank statements which I did. It showed that I could not increase my payment. 6 months later they asked me to do the same again and inbetween times telephoned me to try to get the amount increased. I was heavily pregnant and did not need the regular stress that they kept giving. On one of their telephone conversations, they told me that the amount I had been paying for the past 4 years should never have been accepted and that if I did not increase the amount they would take back the vehicle, even though they have been more than happy to regularly accept my payments every month. The final straw has now come with a Without Prejudice letter stating that I need to inform them of where the vehicle is currently being kept and that if I do not comply I am commiting an offence under section 80 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. I have not answered this letter as the company is fully aware of my residence. I am extremely worried that someone is going to turn up and take the vehicle and do not know where I stand. I would appretiate any help please, sorry again that it is so long winded!
