  1. Sorry Slick132, Been trying to reply now for ages but kept getting interrupted. A brief history is this. I once had a joint account with the person but no longer. I got my own account but due to Barclays rigid rules could not take myself off the joint even though it was not overdrawn and I didn't contest any of the money in the account (Had to have others agreement which was not possible). I explained my circumstances to Barclays who said that they would amend my details and that due to DPA they wouldn't reveal my address. For over a year this worked fine, no problems. I then moved and changed my address, explaining the circumstances again and that this was on my account only. They wrote to the person giving out my address details. I settled with them for an amount and an apology and thought that would be it (After talking to the Bank Manager at my Branch he finally agreed to sort out the joint and I am now off it. Probably the fact he had a sniveling wreck in his office persuaded him and he was really nice about it. I then discovered some months later that someone had set up DD's on my account when I went to the bank and most of my pay was missing. A credit card had been set up against my account and I had just paid the balance. The police are involved but I wonder if the first issue has allowed the person to set this up. At no time have I been offered another account and the reason they say I am not the victim is because I have the money back. Can I still take action if it is proved that this assisted the person?
  2. Hi, I am new on here and would really appreciate advice. I want to know whether I can still have any recourse against Barclays for an issue that started 18 months ago. I can't say too much but in short they provided personal details to a third person after the whole situation was explained to them. As I didn't think much would come of it I settled for a payment and apology. Since then an attempted fraud has taken place on my account by DD. Luckily I caught it in time and managed to get the money back however as I am not classed as the fraud victim now they feel they have no responsibility to me for any of the stress caused. I am pretty sure that their original actions resulted in the attempted fraud but I will need to await further investigation to be concluded before I can prove whether this was the case. As I have already settled on the first part am I entitled to take this further due to the subsequent actions, if it is proven that the information allowed the person to attempt to defraud my account? I am really at my wits end and will be changing banks as soon as this is concluded although they have put safeguards on the account to stop anything further happening. Any advice would be really appreciated.
