Like yourself, I also suffer from depression and anxiety (plus other problems), but I was lucky, I scored the 15 points I needed, but some people just score 0, this might be because they filled in the forms themselves, never a good idea, an appeal will normally work, as the doctors are more sympathetic. Appeal against the decision.

No ESA assessment taken place after 13 weeks

I started claiming ESA in Feb 2009, it wasn't till Dec 2009 that I had my medical, it took two months after the medical before a decision to award me ESA was made, you need to wait a bit more I'm afraid, its annoying and frustrating, but thats the benefit system. Good luck with your claim. -

An appeal against the decision should work, however, before filling in any forms from ATOS/DWP, consult a charity concerning your illness. And to anyone going for a medical, please take someone with you. You need to score at least 15 points to claim ESA. -
I also suffer from severe mental health problems like your son, and also claim ESA, I went to my medical with a support worker from MIND, they have been a brilliant source of support for me over the years. I would suggest contacting them, which is very recommended, or another charity for help.
