  1. I gave them 31 days notice and they still sent my file to debt collectors. I wrote and complained like mad to their head office in Poole (address on website) and also to my local gym. I reported harrassing telephone calls from debt collectors to the police and service provider who blocked the number. I threatened them with legal proceedings too and eventually they backed off and said it was an admin error. HOWEVER, I received an email from somebody who used to work for them who informed me that FF's usual practice is to send ALL members (who are terminating their account) to debt collectors in the hope that they back down and pay up regardless. Another thing to note is that despite giving them 31 days notice, they take notice from the date they process your letter and NOT from the date on your letter.....this is against the law as they must take it from the date of your letter. A very poorly company who I will never deal with again. My partner teaches customer care and he uses FF as one of the etreme bad examples of customer care, along with Tescos, Barclays Bank and BT!!! Hang in there and refuse to pay and threaten to sue if necessary.
  2. I cancelled my membership with FF and did as they asked and gave them one months calendar notice. They are now saying that I signed up for one year - I dispute this as I didn't sign an agreement and they cannot provide a copy. I was contacted by CARS today and emailed them threatening them with a report to the Police for harrassment. I wrote to my local FF and their head office demanding a full explanation. My boyfriend is in the same situation and we are both refuse to pay them anything. Apart from their dreadful customer care, awful personal trainers, defunct equipment, dirty changing rooms...the list is endless...I would never join FF again and would encourage anyone who is threatened to fight them every step of the way and keep copies of all correspondence. They can't have what you don't have.
  3. I joined Fitness First in Basingstoke last year in August. After being continually messed around by personal trainers cancelling sessions I cancelled my membership. After asking their account manager what the process was I was told I could cancel giving one months notice so I duly handed in a letter to this effect. The next month my account was debited and I complained and was eventually refunded. I have today been contacted by their debt collection agency C.A.R.S. to say I owe over £300.00. After sending off a letter and email to the Basingstoke branch and head office I fully intend to fight them. I don't have over £300 and I did what they asked to cancel my membership. I certainly signed no contract signing me up for 12 months and how convenient but FF cannot find my contract either. Stuff 'em I say and everyone should fight. FF staff are rude, incompetent idiots.....and the management are no better. I would encourage no-one to join FF.
  4. Hi It is mentioned in the original lease but because the agents took 10 months to get round to reissuing the renewal lease the landlady and I complained to the agents for them wanting to charge us both their respective fees. The confirmed verbally to the landlady and me that the fee for that particular year would be waived because of the agents lack in reissuing the lease. I have a good relationship with the landlady and she has offered to contact the agents. I always thought that the rent deposit could only have deductions made from it if it related to the actual property such as additionalcleaning, I didn't think the agents could deduct their own fees.....despite them having waived it. We don't have confirmation of the waiver in writing but they did verbally tell me and the landlady...hence why she is surprised that they have deducted it despite her telling them to release the full rent deposit refund. If I don;t get anywhere with the agent then at least the landlady will speak to them. Thank you for your response.
  5. Can anyone help? My landlord instructed my previous letting agents to return my full deposit but I find that the agent has deducted an £80 admin fee for the reissue of the lease the previous year which they had previously agreed with myself and the landlord to waive. Can the agents do this? My landlord says they can't and she instructed them to return teh full deposit. Thank you
