I was quoted the expected mpg by the car salesman (I know not the most reliable source for such information!) and also checked the official figures. I am getting 15-20 mpg less than average when doing a mix of urban and extra urban, this being quite a loss. I have requested a settlement figure which I received today. The original finance was for £4,300 and they are asking for £4,301.14 to settle. Will this completely clear my debt to them or could they still charge early repayment fee etc.?

Thanks for your reply reydetinu. I was under the impression that I would only be charged interest for the duration which I have had the agreement (one month), the option to purchase fee and possibly a fee for early repayment. I wouldn't like to think that the amount I would pay now would be anywhere near the total I would have paid should I let the agreement run the full 4 years.

Hi, Hopefully i'm posting in the right place! I bought a car about a month ago for just under £10k. This was paid for through a part exchange of £6k and the remaining sum financed. The finance arrangements suit me perfectly but the running costs are just too much. I am achieving nowhere near the fuel economy I was quoted and so in one month I have used more than twice as much fuel as I did in my previous car. I have decided that although I will lose out when it comes to trading in my car, the loss will be justified compared to the excess fuel costs I will pay should I keep the car for the period I was intending to. My question is: If I trade in the car and get £9k (as an example), my finance cleared by the dealer (£4k) and £5k left as a deposit for a new car, would a dealer be happy for me to buy a car for £8k (i.e less than the value of my current car). Thanks in advance Ali

I work for a convenience chain part time and have done so for a number of years however have never had a contract. Approximately 4 weeks ago I put in a holiday request for 12 days off and this was approved. I am now on holiday and being hassled by my employer who says I have to work one of the days I was supposed to be on holiday as no one else can cover my shift. Do I need to work this shift and if not is there any legal provision which deal with such issues? Thanks in advance.
