  1. Hi, I would really appreciate some help. I live with my housemate in a flat in Manchester. We pay quite a high level of rent. When we viewed the flat, the sliding door onto the balcony was faulty and we were told that it would be fixed before we moved in. 6 months after moving in we are still unable to secure our flat because we cannot lock the balcony door. We are on the third floor so hopefully no one will be able to climb up but our neighbour's balcony is next to ours, leaving easy access for anyone to jump over and enter our flat. We also have a problem with our boiler. The letting agency is rubbish and continues to fob us off with excuses about how the owner won't get back to them, the owner doesn't have enough money to pay to replace the door. They sent someone to fix it but it still won't lock. The owner's going to come and look at the door, but then he can't come up for weeks and weeks, etc, etc. I have now sent them a request in writing for the owner's contact details as I feel that it is the letting agent that is useless and if I spoke to the owner, we might start to get somewhere. The agent has just emailed me back saying that unfortunately they cannot give us the owner's contact details. I thought I had read somewhere that I had a legal right to request the owner's contact details. Can someone please confirm this? Many thanks, Jane
