Hi there, I'm a customer of RBS two days ago i had recieve a txt alert saying my account had a forty five pound charge taken off. This was on Tuesday. Now just to say this right now i pay a credit card payment every Thursday(my payday) at twenty pound it comes of Direct Debit. On the 29th Thursday my work wages came in late and i got a txt from the Card company to phone them, i had finished work then phoned them up i explained what must have happened and then i just put through my details and they took the twenty pound. So i assumed all was well. Fast forward to This week. I finished work then went onto online banking and browsed my account statement and had noticed this was backdated from the 30th of July i phoned the RBS on phone their reply was they don't know what that charge was for or who from they said it was best i go in branch. So next day Wednesday i popped into my branch. She explained she has no idea how this charge has happened. So i go home phoning up to the Card company saying had they charged me the lady explained to me they don't charge any other fees only what i say to take out. She explained to me it would have been the bank. After snooping online i found out yes it was the bank but what gets me is that the Debit Failed but they didn't make the payment for me, i myself did that as i had to phone up to put it through. So my question is do they have a right to charge me? they never gave me any sort of notification this sum was getting subtracted from my account. Thanks for your time.
