We are 3 months in arrears with the rent for the shop we lease. The landlady agreed to us leaving last Friday & that we would meet up on Tuesday. She verbally agreed that she was happy for us to leave & that she wouldn't hold us to the rent for the rest of the lease - just for what we owe, which we are happy to pay back when we can. When we first took the lease, we were assured that the flat above the shop had access all the time thru the pub car park next door & she would put in a new boiler & mend the leaking shower pump. We discovered after moving in that the pub access stopped at midnight due to them locking the access gates. The only other access was thru the shop! We still haven't had a new boiler so have had no heating or hot water & the shower pump has still not been fixed. The landlady now wants to have goods to pay for the arrears & is saying that she hadn't agreed to us leaving on Friday. We have already cleared out the shop! Where do we stand on this - I know that we can be liable for the future rent but she has agreed that we aren't. I will be paying back the arrears when I can but am unable to at present. Thank you for any help!
