My friend has a charge against her house for a loan taken out by her former partner. She is trying to find out how much this "charge" is but without an account number or sort code the bank says they can not trace it. It's still on the title register so it does in theory exist! She has supplied her name, her ex's details, address of the property, registration of title and reference no. given by the bank to her ex. She has tried to get this information by phone, in writing and by enforcement letter with the same reply that she must supply the elusive account no. and sort code! I was under the impression that all accounts would be traceable by just giving your name and address. Any help to retrieve this information would be gratefully received as she hasn't an idea as to what she is likely to have to repay.
