  1. I recently sold up and redeemed my mortgage with GE money (couldn't cope any longer). We completed on the 4th of the month (in other words the property wasn't owned by me any more). However GE Money charged me until the 24th of the month - almost £650. When asked why, they said it was because they were a 'monthly lender.' Does anyone know if this is legal, or can I claim it back? Many thanks, Codeycat.
  2. W:)W!!! I Checked today, and it's been paid!!! One very happy Codeycat
  3. I was under the impression you only added on interest if they took you to court, and then at 8%. I didn't realise you could add it on any earlier.:o Still, that's neither here nor there as, like Laddie18, they eventually agreed to pay me more than I originally asked for. The time between my 50% offer rejection letter, and their full final offer was less than a week. Codeycat.
  4. I've just got off the phone. They said (I should have recorded it) that it had 'just been signed off' and payment would be made in seven days to fourteen days, though (nice lady added) normally seven days... They obviously need the interest...
  5. Update: I Was offered the full amount, but like Laddie18, they haven't paid me, as yet. According to the Post Office my 'compensation acceptance form' was delivered a week ago, and still no funds... If anyone has any soothing comments on how long it takes them to cough up, I'd be delighted to hear them. Still worried, still Codeycat.
  6. I didn't have to phone ... I got my 'full offer' letter in the post this morning!
  7. Hi, Babynan, could you tell me how long it was after your son phoned IF that he received their full offer? I'm asking as I sent the 50% offer rejection letter last friday, and I'm ... erm ... wetting myself. :o Thanks, Codeycat
  8. Thank you both, so much! It is a worrying time, and to feel that there is support out there is ... wonderful. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers, Codeycat
  9. Hi, I sent my first letter towards the end may, and was just about to send the second letter when I received an offer for 50% of my claim. The temptation to cave in and accept it is ... almost overwhelming. Anyhow, I need some advice. There are five versions of the 'rejecting offers' letters, but none of them seem to fit my case. In their letter IF have said 'If you wish to accept this goodwill gesture in full and final settlement of your complaint, please sign and return the acceptance form and I will arrange for a credit of £xxx to your current account.' How should I respond? Thanks a lot for any help. Now I know why I never wanted to be a lawyer. Cheers, Codeycat 8-)
  10. I've already sent it off to the Livingstone address. Hmm. On the website it says: 'Intelligent Finance is a division of Halifax plc. Registered in England No.2367076. Registered Office: Trinity Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire HX1 2RG. This site is intended only for people who live in the UK and you must be a UK resident to apply for our products.' so it shouldn't really matter ... should it?
  11. Hmm, two addresses. *flips coin* I guess I'll try the Livingstone one first. Thanks for the help!
  12. I'm about to send the first letter (letter before action) and I was wondering do I send it to IF in scotland (different courts I believe), or to the Halifax, as they are a subsiduary. Any advice would be hugely welcome. Thanks!
  13. Thanks! I was worried I was too late for Capital One. If you're not used to legalese, or thinking in that way, it's all a bit of a ... well, to be polite, a headache. cheers, Codeycat
  14. Hi, I'm not good with money, and had a capital one card with a low limit that had more charges on it than money I'd spent. I cancelled it two years ago, but I'm assuming I can still go after them for the outrageous charges. I also have a Lloyds curent account and credit card, both with a stack of punative charges over the years. This place is like a ... um ... an aladin's cave of possibilities. So glad I found it! Thanks, Codeycat
