They took money without asking me. what if next month they say I still owe the money and i have to give them back? I didnt sign anything that can prove I gave the money back.

Hi Job agency I work for paid me more money by mistake few weeks ago. Now I noticed that I was not paid my regualr salary. When I called them they said I owed money so they took the them, but is it legal not to pay without saying a word? I think they can take money from my account without informing me but they just didn't pay me my money without any consultation with me and now I have overdraft on my account in the bank. So my question is was that legal action from them?
