  1. Hi there, I wonder if anyone can read my ramblings and suggest any thoughts; Basically I work for a private company, we have been advised recently that due to us not being awarded a latest contract, some of my organisation are to be TUPE'd over to another company who HAS been awarded the Gov't contract. I am 13 weeks pregnant and was keeping this quiet until 12 weeks as standardly done by some women (it is my 2nd pregnancy, I returned last July after 7 months off and had no complications or time off in excess before mat leave). However because of my job and dealing with vulnerable often volatile clients I decided to tell my immediate boss of my situation last Thursday. He discussed it with me, we still didn't know (well, he may have had an idea, but we'd not yet received final confirmation of the TUPE plans), so I felt he was acting in my best interest when he told me to keep quiet for now about pregnancy, and not tell the MD and my colleagues until we got confirmation of the TUPE info. Today we received confirmation of the various companies we are all moving over to. However in my building we will still have the final weeks of our existing contract to wind down, so therefore SOMEONE needs to be around to take care of the customers, day-to-day running of things etc. So on the proposed dates of TUPE transfer, my name is the only one in our building to be staying until 1st August. Everyone else's propsed dates of moving are in the next week or two. I've had no conversations with anyone in management about this, to ask me if ok, or to warn me quietly about it. I then told my boss of my feelings that now I had to tell the MD about my pregnancy, as I was still going to be remaining under my existing company's care for the next couple months. Therefore, as my pregnancy will soon show and they need to know, and decide fully if i'm the right person to be staying behind (I'm capable of doing this, I'm confident that my MD felt I was appropriate to handle it and I will stay put if need be )....but my boss told me again not to say anything about the pregnancy!! My feeling is that he is being TUPE'd over in the next 2 weeks, and he wants to get straight into the new company (as we all do)...he may well have known that my name was in the mix to stay behind, and that when I told him last week about my pregnancy, he may have thought "oh, I don't want her to tell management, as this may result in himself having to stay behind to manage things". So now I'm thinking, surely if my MD expects me to stay for the next 7 odd weeks, they MUST need to know asap for H&S reasons that I'm pregnant, as I'll also need to have the odd antenatal visit off, and if I'm dealing with volatile situations. Why on earth would my boss tell me to keep quiet for now? I'll also prefer to move to the new company with my other colleagues as soon as possible, as if I wait till 1st Aug then I'll have only 4 months or so before I'm off on mat leave, and I guess I'll have less time to prove my ability to them. Whereas if I move now, I can bed myself in and hopefully my job would be safer when I'm off. What are anyone's opinions? Is my boss possibly covering himself incase they ask him to remain behind? Is there any possible reason for me to not tell people, ie surely I can't be sacked by my new company just for being pregnant? Thanks for getting this far...!!
  2. Hi there, Hope someone can give me some advice... My ex partner and I had a mortgage which due to financial problems etc, the house was reposessed but there was still a shortfall of £19k owing on it. I recently tried to apply for an IVA through a debt agency, but as my ex partner is in a new address which I don't know, the agency is telling me that I am liable for the total £19k due to us originally signing a joint agreement. What choices do I have if I cannot currently give them my ex's new address? I do not feel I should be liable for the total amount; only half! Do you have any suggestions, or has anyone been in similar situation? Many thanks!
