Hello there. Just started looking into whether I can re-claim PPI charges on a bank loan. Have been in touch with a couple of debt management companies but they are after about 30% odd of the amount recovered in fees so have decided to handle it myself. HSBC 4 year loan taken out 22/3/2005 now all fully paid off. Principal Loan Amount of Loan £5000 Total charge for credit £1642.26 PPI Amount of premium £1196.27 Amount of Loan £1190.00 Total charge for credit £390.86 Total amount payable £1580.86 How much can I can try and claim back on this. Can I claim all the interest as well as the initial amount of the PPI? Also heard that I can claim 8% interest on top of any amount asked for. Is this 8% total or 8% per year (compound or flat rate)? Acquired a copy of the loan agreement from the bank and not sure exactly where to go from here. Please does anyone have a link to a sample letter I could use to write to the bank. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
