Thank you for your replies. It is a close friend of mine that is buying the car - so trust is not an issue. If he has the car & insures it to drive, and the DVLA ask for an inspection, I could phone him to make it available. I will still be the keeper until the V5 arrives but he can drive it. Would that work?

Hi, I have sent my V5 cert off to DVLA so that i can retain my personal registration - in the meantime i have a buyer for my car who wants it ASAP. Can i still sell my car without the V5? Thanks

I want to sell my car privately, but keep my personalised plate so that i can sell that privately. How does the car I`m selling get a new registration? I`ll need to do this before i can sell it on. I want to avoid paying a retainer on the plate and i will not be putting it on the new car - how can i go about doing this? Do i need to inform the DVLA that i am selling my plate? Thanks
