I work for a firm which now and again if there is any damages they have taken out the cost of repair out of our wages without informing the workforce before hand. Can they do this???? I know supermarkets when they get damages they just record it and throw it away but for some reason our firm seem to hit the workers pockets as if to make a point that its our fault but as i say an accident is an accident.

do anyone know the law regarding cctv at work regarding anyone looking at the camera`s at work. I was doing overtime at work with another colleague which we informed the works manager that we would be taking extra breaks due to the nature of the job, which he said it was ok. the following day a fitter from maintenance went and looked at the cameras and tried to get us into trouble by informing the works manager about our breaks which he said was ok he also went and told a few people that work on the factory floor. Is this allowed i know company`s can monitor how you work and health and safety etc but can anyone look at the cameras and is he allowed to go round and inform others on the shop floor what we do to me this is invasion of privacy but not sure. I work in a privately owned company in the steel industry does this change the way the law works compared to not privately owned
