  1. does anyone know how to get a response from Ryanair for an appeal made against the amount they have paid out to me ? Previous mail has the details ut basically they have sent me a cheque for £37.57 against a valid and receipted claim for €402! all my emails just seem to get ignored
  2. i've now received a cheque from ryanair with a letter stating 'full and final settlement'. i claimed €372 for accomodation plus €32.10 for food. the cheque received is bizarrely for £37.57 only, which bears no relevance to either element of my claim or is any where near the total. unsurprisingly there is no detail of how this random amount was calculated either. my first move will obviously be to email customer services and query the calculation....but I'm not holding my breath fro a response any time soon.
  3. i emailed ryanair to enquire when i might get a response to my claim sent to them on 5th july. i have now had an email which states that they will pay by cheque within the next 25 working days as final settlement, although there is no metion of the amount we will recieve. There is however the following para, which confirms that any non-VAT Registered receipts will not be paid... Please be advised that non Vat Registered Receipts, alcoholic beverages/parking/prepaid expenses/alternative travel costs are not covered under the EU261/2004 and will not be reimbursed. Expenses not covered under Regulation EU261 should be claimed directly from your travel insurer. I submitted an original invoice on headed paper from the riad we used in Marrakech when we got stuck...but I have no idea whether this will be classed as 'VAT-registered' or not.... anyone care to guess on this...?
  4. ...so....anyone had any money (other than basic flight cost refunds) back from Ryanair for this yet...?
  5. give the URL another go....it is now mysteriously working for me
  6. had an email yesterday that asks me to complete an online form and then submit original reciepts to address provided...seemed like progress until i found the link provided does not work.... link is to www.ryanaireu261.com plus a load of gumph after that... anyone else victim of what a cynic would suggest may be another stalling tactic..?
  7. why does this not surprise me..? i faxed off my claim for accommodation and food etc on the form on Ryanair's website approx 2 weeks ago. i have this week had an email response from [email protected] informing me that they ackowledge recipet of the claim and there will now be a further delay while it is validated. i *was* expecting another mail at some point to ask me to send reciepts etc..but now i'm not so hopeful. i think all you can do is to attempt to mail them at either this address or others in this thread and put them straight that you dont want a flight refund. you could also ask your bank if they could refuse the payment if attempted..? one thought though...are you certain that the 'refund' they are offering is definately for the flight cost only and they are not actually referring to the refund of accommodation etc? You might find yourself in a bigger hole if you turn that one down due to Ryanair's ambigous terminology...
  8. having trawled the web and Ryanair's site other folks in the same position may find the link below useful as it includes a link to a claim form that can be used to request re-imbursment of costs incurred due to cancellation... How can I make a claim as a result of the volcanic ash disruption?
  9. honeybee - thanks for your concern, much appreciated. by some miracle our flight left Marrakech on Tuesday night and we are now safely back home thankyou to bring things back on thread i have now gathered all receipts from our extended stay and will tomorrow draft a claim for reimbursement from ryanair for the costs incurred. however having read the extract from EU Reg 261 that Ryanair have posted on their website it seems to suggest that although they have a 'duty of care' this excludes events that are caused by 'extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken by Ryanair'. If this is the case then under what grounds do I or any other passenger have a right to re-imbursement, and why did other airlines make payments when they too are bound by the same regs? I'm obviously aware that Ryanair go out of their way to be economical with the truth as far as they can legally do so, but i'm interested to know what i need to say to ensure my claim is as firm and un-challengeable as possible. thanks for any help offered
  10. when the flight was cancelled at Marrakesh airport there was no Ryanair personnel available other than a local rep who simply rebooked seats for the next flight (tonight). There was no offer of any accommodation, refreshments, meals or anything and all passengers were left to fend for themselves. What choice did we have (other than to doss on the airport floor for 3 nights) than to find a hotel and hope that Mr O'Leary coughs up as he so graciously did last time? Tonights flight is still looking dodgy so if we have to stay we need to know what level of confidence we have on whether the further costs will be met by Ryanair?
  11. guess what...we're holed up in Marrakech since Ryanair cancelled our flight back to Bristol on last Saturday evening. They have rebooked us for tomorrow nights flight on Tuesday 11th but it's looking dodgy that that flight may also be cancelled. My question is simple...are we better to stay where we are and wait for them to fly us from here and then request accommodation costs etc from Ryanair when we get home, or should we forego the offer of a rebooking if they cancel again and make our own way back by train/bus/boat etc? As we are racking us accommodation costs (keeping as reasonable as we can) do we have any confidence that Ryanair will re-imburse when we actually claim? Obviously we dont want to stay around for a flight and incur expenses if Ryanair have no intention of compensating for the wait...? Any practical help greatly appreciated please!!
