Mmmm, interesting. I looked at my bank account today and found the following direct debit had gone out. Payee name HOMESERV UTD UTILS Payee reference HSS 350683070 Amount £1.00 Strange seeing as I had never even heard of them. I have cancelled the DD and contacted Homeserve and United Utilities via email (discovered after their phone lines had closed for the night). How did these people get my account details? Why did they take my money? (I know it's only £1, it's more about the principal) Why did my bank pay it without my authorisation? Any further advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
