The letter from Marks and Spencer has my parents address on it. So i presume it was sent to them but i never received it. I've never lived there. It was only used as a contact address while i was abroad.

I received a letter today demanding nearly £6,000 from a Marks & Spencer credit card. About 5 years ago I lost my job and was unable to pay. I tried to come to an agreement with them at the time but they were having none of it. I was then offered a job abroad and worked there for a while. I came back got married and had kids. We took a mortgage and have been keeping our heads above water. Then this letter arrived. They are threatening to make me bankrupt if I don't pay. If I remember right the amount was around £4,000 so I don't know where the figure of nearly £6,000 came from. My wife is worried sick, In fact she was physically sick when she read the letter. We don't want anyone coming round and we can't afford to pay. What shall we do? The letter was dated the 6th of March but we didn't get it until today (10th). It says we have until the 12th to contact them or they will pass it to their lawyers. If we do have to pay i would prefer to pay the courts directly and let them set the payments if this is possible.
