Hi, I was renting a lock up for storage for a period of approx 5 months. Ended the rental as it was only temporary. Received a call from a debt collector a week or so after demanding £1500.00 for business rates, i had no idea a lock up would incur this and I had never even had a bill? Any ideas appreciated.

hi, thanks for your reply, Which council or region was this in? they are just throwing it out basically because its a close relationship. The agreement was made over 4 and a half years ago but they say it looks totally like a contrived agreement to get HB which isn't true. I am really struggling with paayments and my son has put up with no money for several months as we were told from the outset the process would take several months to resolve due to back logs and the money would be back dated when authorised, I really need help but cannot afford professional. Thanks in advance to any one with advice.

Since last July my husband has been unable to work due to ill health and as such we are unable to pay our rent. The council have refused this as the landlord is a close relative. Any help much appreciated.
