  1. Hi I wonder if anyone can give me any advice i want to complain but not sure who too. I recently was on a weeks holiday at centre parcs (i am female!!!) in the lakes and on my way there i had trouble with my clutch but still got me there ok but the day before i was due to leave i went and checked my car and could not get it into gear with the engine on so i phoned the AA as i am a member through my bank but i only have road side assistance. The AA man came said it was the clutch that was faulty and i had one of 2 options A) upgrade my membership to full so that they could get me home but this would cost me round about £150 - £200 due the distance i was away from home or B) Get towed to the nearest garage and have the clutch replaced there. The AA man told me it was pointless me upgrading and may as well just get the repairs done. he then phoned a near by garage that quoted me £320 plus VAT my car is a very old car (R Reg) but i was on my own with a child and was told that they would be able to fix this by the next day when i would need to get home. I asked the AA man to tell the garage to have a quick look over the car before starting any work and then ring me so that i could get hold of my husband to see what he thought. I got no phonecall so i telephoned them and asked exactly what they had quoted for and what guarantees came with the parts and that i needed to phone my husband back before they could start they told i could have 5 minutes to make the decision otherwise it would not be ready for me the next day. I obviously was panicking by then that i would not get home so allowed the work to go ahead. The next day it got to 2pm and i had not heard anything so i telephoned the garage who said yes they had fixed it but i could not drive it home because they had found that the front coil spring had snapped and some other part had seized and i could end up with a blow out if i drive it. They then quoted me another £170 plus vat to fix this i refused to have this done and had a recovery truck pick me up. I asked the garage why they had continued to work on the car when they had found another fault without phoning me first because i would have told them to not bother doing any of the work. They said they had not discovered this until they had put the clutch back in (conveniently). When i got the car home it worked out cheaper to have the car towed and the coil spring fitted at a local garage because there was NO seizing. What i find most frustrating is the no contact from the Garage and the AA man was clearly very friendly with his local garage
  2. Amazingly i have had some luck with this my £300 overdraft has been put on and i have had a telephone call and letter apologizing that it was a glitch in the system (or this is the reason i was given) and my overdraft is not due to be reviewed until the end of May..
  3. they would not give me a reason for taking away my overdraft, when i asked on the phone i just kept getting the same quote it is the underwriters decision on how my bank account is run.?? i asked how should i be running my account to enable me to have an overdraft but she would not reply. i am currently writing a letter of complaint which i will be posting tonight
  4. thanks i will do this I too cant believe how many people are complaining about the halifax
  5. Arrgghhh Halifax !!! I originally had a card cash account with the halifax and after spending many years sorting debt out i wanted to upgrade my account to a current account because they said i was no longer allowed an overdraft on this type of account but the halifax would not let me they said i was unable to upgrade that type of account but they would let me open a new current account and get an overdraft with this account so i did this. About 6 months later they upgraded my card cash account to a current account without even telling me and gave me an overdraft of £300 so i now have 2 current accounts and now they have introduced the £1 a day charge. I dont very often use my overdraft at all so i thought i would upgrade to the ultimate reward account as there are no charges for upto £300 overdraft and figured seen as though when i do use my overdraft its usually only for about 10 days so i thought paying £7.50 per month (because i get the £5 reward) for a fee free overdraft and get all the extra benefits such as mobile insurance, breakdown, card cover etc would be worth it. I have had the Ultimate reward account for a month and yesterday i logged in to check my account to find they have taken away my £300 overdraft facility on this account i have not received any notification that they were stopping this. So now i am stuck with the ultimate reward account for a year with no overdraft and paying the £12.50 a month and another account which has an overdraft which i no doubt will have to use at some point that i will have to pay charges on.:mad::mad: Does anyone have any suggestions what i should do???????
