  1. I have requested that they do this. I will be hand delivering a letter to their offices over the weekend, they know i used to live there as i was named on previous bills! I think they were trying to catch me out as i said i no longer live there so they wanted to check i am registered as living elsewhere! they are welcome to check even though I am there sometimes none of my property is!!

They wont tell me if the account is on hold or not as they cannot discuss with me!!

  2. Hi, We are still together I have just moved outit is complicated! I have moved back in with my mother to help out for a while. I have advised the council that the letter will be hand delivered over the weekend so that the account can be dealt with. I have asked the question about the account being placed on hold and do not get a response. he has only received one letter so far and i will be providing proof of the payments made to to the council as well.

  3. Hi,

I have posted previously regarding council tax. I do not know if anyone will be able to help me with this query. I moved out of the address I was sharing with my partner last year and changed the council tax into just his name, we are still together and i still pay the council tax. He has now received a letter from Equita chasing payment, it is for the current year and i have been making payments however there is still some due. Firstly they have the wrong date that I moved out so the amounts are incorrect and I have been emailing the Council regarding it as I want to settle without a bailiff being involved. When I first emailed them they said the account was on hold with Equita until he had time to respond to my e-mails. He has now done this and said that they cannot deal with me as the account isd not in my name. Surely when i am trying to arrange payments they should be happy to speak to me?? I have now been told they need written proof that they can speak to me. If it is under investigation surely no further bailiff action can take place?

  4. Not a full breakdown, it just shows the council tax amount and the bailiff charges. I did have an issue with Equita as they sent a bailiff with a removal notice to my house after i had made them an offer which they accepted and even before the first payment was due. I called them about this as I had not received the letter accepting my offer at this stage! When I called them they apologised for this but bet they have still charged the fees!!

  5. Hi,

My partner has received a letter from Equita today regarding council tax due. I have been making payments on this account for him as I have recently moved out - its complicated!! I have not contacted equita yet as i have first contacted the council as it is for the current year. Should I be able to continue paying SODC as I have requested i make payment to them and they take the account back from Equita.

    Please advise me

  6. I have had my contract with o2 for nearly 5 years now and they disconnected my phone yesterday depsite being in contact with them regarding a transfer i have made for payment. when i contacted them they then advised the transfer i had made had gone to an account that does not receive payments this way. i checked my bank and it had been returned and i then transferred the funds to the correct account. i have provided them with proof of the transaction and the phone can now recieve incoming calls but i cannot make them. There was outstanding payments on the account which i had not been advised that my direct debit had failed by either o2 or my bank which is why i was in arrears i was unable to make payment by debit card as i am awaiting a new one and customer services are unable to help me. does anyone know where is atnd regarding this?

  7. Thank you for this. I spoke to equita and they said it has been passed to a bailiff and to contact them directly. i have had different opinions on what to do. some say pay equita some say pay the council. i have £190 i can pay straight away but that is it!! i do not want someone at my door! When i have rec letter from Equita a few yrs ago they sent about 10 letters before anything happened!

  8. Hi,

I have some outstanding council tax for the current year which has been passed to equita. I rec a letter from them on weds 3/11 and sent a letter to them the next day recorded. when i eventually managed to speak to someone my account had been passed to a bailiff, less than 7 days after the letter was dated is this right?? Also i cannot make full payment straight away what is the best thing to do???

    Please help me

  9. I cannot pay the debt in full at present, i did even try to get a loan to do this and cannot get one! Should i pay what i can direct to the council or through equita? when i said to equita i can pay some they said it creates more paperwork for them!! I am trying all i can to resolve this i only have e-mails i have sent through the council none from Equita as they would not respond to me and passed it straight to a bailiff which i think is ridiculous when i was trying to resolve it before it got this far.

  10. I have contacted a coucillor regarding the issue. however they are a bit slow at responding to me. I do have some council offices near to me at work and do not know if i could go in there and see if they can help me? it is not my council but they have now joined together from the info i have found!

should i pay the council direct, will this stop the bailiff?

  11. I have been dealing with them by e-mail, is it a capita e-mail address that i have been communicating with them via. I don't like doing things by phone as i like proof. They came back to me today and said that equita will not hold the account as there is no reason to. i am trying my hardest to do all i can with regard to paying the account. i'm a mess due to this and cannot concentrate at work.

  12. He has not visited my home as far as i am aware, i have had no hand delivered letters or anything. The only place i am able to park my car is near to my flat. i have spoken to the bailiff and discussed payment to him. will this cause any further problems for me? i had been trying to arrange to get the full funds but cannot do this. i have 50% of the money he is asking for. Willl the council take back my account if i pay them directly?

  13. Hi,

I have posted on here before regarding this howver just want a bit more advice. I have got an outstanding balance on my council tax with SODC. The bailiff is wanting full payment from me as when i tried to contact the equita offices after receiving a letter i could not get through as they were always so busy. Due to the nature of my job i am not always able to use the phone for personal calls. I also received al letter on saturday 27/2 dated 22/2 stating that i needed to contact their offices regarding outsanding monies owed and they had already passed the account to the bailiff at this point. I find this unacceptable but their offices will still not speak to me. I have half of the monies owed to them that i am able to pay immediately however the bailiff wants more from me. I have contacted the council who tried to hold the account for me but equita will not do this.

should i pay what i can to the council and get them to advise equita that i am paying or will this cause me more problems with the bailiff?

i have spoken to the bailiff and have been trying to arrange the funds so i can pay them in full but cannot get enough. I am panicing that my car will be towed by them as i fully own it.

can someone please help me as soon as possible as the bailiff has said that i need to pay today.
