  1. I've just managed to get my license back!!! Thank god!! I did the awareness course too & although at times it felt a but like an AA meeting , it does help you to work out what/when you can drink etc. I would say I've been a typical binge drinker for a very long time! I drink far too much at weekends & have probably been drinkng more since not having my license as I've had a cipule in the week if I'm out! I did wonder if I would pass the medical. My medical lasted about 5 mins if that! But I passed! In the 3 weeks before my medical I had about 3 glasses if wine. I would say unless you intend quitting drink for good then just try & cut it down a bit. Seems to be that you need to show you aren't dependant on alcohol. I'm not but I do like a drink! Now I have my wheels back I'm going to be very careful with my drinking. I don't ever want to go through this again!! Good luck to you & if I can help with anything just shout!!

  3. Hiya, is anyone still checking this ??!! I received my letter from the DVLA last week regarding my medical, so I'll be calling up this week to make an appointment! Thought I would check back and see how people have got on with medicals recently?! I'm still terrified about it-partly because I hate needles, and partly because I am convinced they are just trying to find an excuse to not give me my license and charge me more money!! But I guess I will just have to wait and see! I have to get to Richmond which isn't exactly easy when you can't drive and the nearest train station is about 10 miles away!! Anyway I've sent off my license application so fingers crossed it all goes well!!
  4. I'm so pleased to have found all this info! I've been searching for ages but not found anything useful and then found this thread! I got banned December 08 and should get my license back this June. Unfortunately I have an all inclusive holiday in April this year which I booked not long after receiving my ban-to cheer myself up!! I'm thinking I might have to go and just drink soft drinks for 2 weeks! I'm terrified I'll fail this medical! I guess I'm a classic binge drinker. I don't drink all week but will go out either Friday or Saturday and drink more than I should. To be honest I've not thought about the medical untill recently and now I'm wondering if I've left it too late to do anything to pass it? I did buy some Milk THistle tablets so I'll start taking that straight away. SHould I quit drinking altogether?! They guy that took my drink drive awareness course said not to quit but to stick to the limits-have eg one drink a day? To keep my alcohol levels 'normal' . I don't really want to have a drink every day though! But he said not to stop altogether as the medical will show that I've just stopped to pass the medical!!?! If anyone can give me any advise I'd appreciate it! It's good to find people that have been through all this! My friends are great buy saying "don't worry-you will be fine" doesn't really help!! HOw long before the ban is up do you have the medical?
