  1. Hi, thanks for your quick reply, I cant find anything on my credit file save for a credit card debt (that being young and foolish I had totally forgotten about) which is five anfd a half years old, it has to be that, but the reference they gave me was just that they had bought it from another agency so they gave me their name and that was that, I told them at that point I was not acknowledging the debt as until they can clarify what it is I dont know what it is.I'm just scared they are going to start contacting my realtives/employers (after all they got the landline number and work email from somewhere 9we have a strict email policy at work so it is NEVER given to anyone.
  2. A long while ago I received correspondence from Mackenzie Hall relating to a debt, I called them from my mobile (witholding my number) and asked them what it was about. When they then told me what it was I told them I had no idea what they were talking about. Then contact stopped, until about two weeks ago I received a text asking me to call them and then they called my house number (which is not only ex directory but registered in my husbands name) leaving a message and now five minutes ago I get this email at work I have never EVER given my work email out to anyone, so how did they even get it????? and are they allowed to do this??? (I have put the x's in by the way to cover my personal information)Reference: XXXXClient Reference: xxxxxxxPursuers: xxxxxxxxxOriginal Creditors: xxxxxxPrincipal Sum: £xxxx Settlement Offers In regards to the above mentioned account, we are now willing to offer you the opportunity to clear your balance for less than the figure owed. 3. Just a quick question really, I used to have an account with Abbey, but after a few disputes over my account I switched banks to Yorkshire Bank in July 2008, however, I did have a £500 overdraft on the account which I had not paid back due to insurmountable financial problems. However I have tried to make steps to pay this back in instalments and each time I have been told that I will not be able to do this it has to be paid in full. I am now getting letters from a debt collection agency who are again, stating that I have to pay the amount back in full, and cannot make steps to pay this back in instalments. However, the amount I now supposedly owe has gone up to over £1000!!! from an overdraft on £500 with only one direct debit going out for £5.99 after 12/07/2008 and two cheques outstanding (sorry I forgot to cancel them, that is my fault) how my debt can now be over £1000. the last time I contacted the bank directly it was approximately £700, which I would be happy to take steps to pay back directly with the bank if possible as I have found the debt collection agency to not only be rude and unhelpful but one on occasion called me just as I was leaving for my grandmothers funeral, I stated that I was about to leave for a funeral and they hung up, when I turned my phone back on after the funeral I had 6 missed calls from them so they would have been trying to call me throughout my grandmothers funeral service which I find totally unacceptable. Where do I stand on this issue as the letters from the collection agency are now getting quite serious and I cannot afford to pay back the full amount, but have tried on more than one occasion to pay back in instalments and have been refused. Any help/advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.
