Hi All, Always read this and got loads of good advice from stickys and posts. Had to sign up today to post not under the best situation but glad to be here! I wonder if anyone can help me. My girlfriend wanted to find a place quickly so on Saturday she asked me to phone this one place up, quite cheap studio. We get there meet the guy, who whisks us around the building quickly, then we sit in the back of his car!! where he fills in some form with some figures and signs it, then says have you got holding deposit on you now, I was like no... he's like ok I'll take you to a cash point (yeah I know I shouldn't have) so basically we gave him 250 quid. On Sunday my girlfriend was very upset and worried about moving to the place because she just realised now that there was no washing machine and she'd feel depressed in the small studio flat and also didn't realise how much stuff we had. They tried to charge us 200 quid agency "fee" for like checks and stuff, I don't really trust this.. I said to him my girlfriend is Romanian and there's no history or details on her in this country so he said ok 150, then ok 100 quid.... This morning I told my dad about this all, and sent him up there to get it back as I work.. He ended up arguing with the guy who said he'd call the police etc, I manage to get a few minutes and I phone up the woman who works there very nice woman and she said that they have already handed over the deposit to the landlady (I don't believe this, from Saturday evening, to now) and need to speak to her to get it back. I haven't signed any forms or anything, I have some sort of receipt. I'm happy to answer any questions I haven't answered, looking for quality advice from you people...
