I am looking to have my kerbs dropped at the end of my drive to improve access via car. I have permission from the county council and been given a list of authorised contractors to do the work. I have stumbled upon a problem. At the end of the drive and running along the footpath is a BT slab with phone lines in it. Now BT Openreach say i have to pay £200 plus VAT to have a surveyor come out and tell me if it is viable which i believe it is, but then they will want to do the work of lowering the chambers as oppossed to the authorised contractors doing the work. Does anyone have an idea as to what they would charge, because i would have two fees, one to Openreach and one to the contractor to actually drop the kerbs. Openreach will not allow me to speak to a surveyor get advice.
