  3. Hi, I have an issue with another bank (hsbc) completey unrelated to this but this forum is helping me out and i thought i would have a look around. I was with Lloyds TSB some years ago now (4or5 i think) and had a loan and large overdraft which too me several years to pay off. I am sure i paid nearly double my loan in interest and charges etc. I was in alot of trouble back then and struggled to keep up with payments. I closed my account a few years back debt free. can i still ask for my interest back even though the account has been closed for a few years. if anyone can help it would be really appreciated thanks. Dave. p.s sorry about my spelling lol!!
  4. just to let you know, i have recieved an email back from hsbc. not paul thurston but his assistant Lorna Bugeja it says.... Dear Mr. Ruddy Thank you for your e-mail addressed to Paul Thurston and am very sorry that you feel let down by HSBC, at the present time. I have passed your e-mail to a senior manager, within HSBC, who will investigate the matter and respond to you as soon as possible. Kind regards Lorna Bugeja Executive Assistant to Paul Thurston Chief Executive, HSBC Bank plc
  5. I have written the letter and have attached a copy is it ok? I notice i didnt mention money was withdrawn from the account after i asked to close it this was because itunes and paypal took a while to process an old order and i thought it was all sorted. please let me know if the letter is ok as i will send it special recorded tomorrow. Dear Ms Helen Packwood, I have had several problems with HSBC and in January I requested my account to be closed. This did not happen even after I credited the account with arranged £3.45. Unfortunately after I asked for my account to be closed two withdrawals were made by my itunes and paypal account. This was not supposed to happen, I am sure you understand accidents happen (you did when you accidentally withdrew £500 from my account). I have written to you several times on this matter and still have no satisfactory result. We had an agreement that I would pay the debt minus £100 deducted by you. When I asked for the final figure you replied explaining I should speak to a debt recovery agency. This is not going to happen. This account and sum owed has been in dispute since 1st September 2009. Therefore nothing should have been done to my account until such time as the dispute being resolved. I have looked over the statements you sent on the 14th September 2009 and see the total figure withdrawn after the 03rd February 2009 is £20.44. Because HSBC have consistently refused to acknowledge me as a customer and instead have made false promises over and over again I am only willing to pay the figure I accidentally withdrew. In case you don’t understand my reason for this I would like to add, I asked for my account to be closed and this should have happened. When I was given the amount I needed to pay to set my account back to zero I should have been informed of any charges about to be applied, I wasn’t. I have enclosed copies of all letters sent to and received from you so there is no confusion about my attempts to pay debt owed. Also to ensure a quick response from you and HSBC I have copied this letter and sent it to Paul Thurston, who is, in case you didn’t know, the Chief Executive. As my account has been closed, I now require information regarding the account I should transfer this money to. I will ensure the money is transferred the minute I get this information. I trust you now understand my request and look forward to your response Sincerely,

  8. Hi, I am a british soldier based in germany. I have had several problems with banks not understanding my local branch isn't round the corner! To cut a very long story short about feb this year i had finally had enough of hsbc. I phoned them and asked to close my account. They said i had to pay 3 or 4 pound that i had overdrawn. I transfered this the same day and awaited a package that was supposed to be sent to me. It never arrived. The following month i received a statement saying i owed about 100 pounds. interest etc. I ignored the letter as i was waiting for the closure package. I (maybe stupidly) didn't reply to any of there statements and letters for some months. A couple of months ago i recieved a letter saying it is my last chance to pay. So i wrote to Ms Helen Packwood (who sent me the letter) explaining why i wanted to close my account and had settled the debt at that time. she wrote back and pointed out a transaction i didnt know about but offered to reduce the bill by 100 pound (by this time the total was around 300) the letter also told me to call the customer helpline and ask for the final figure and get the money paid. I did this but the friendly guy on the other end of the phoned told me TO POP INTO MY LOCAL BRANH! well after laughing at him i explained my situation and he said i had to call back during the week (I called on a staurday). I wrote back to hsbc explaining what had happend and thanked them for the 100 pound deduction and asked for a final figure. no reply...... instead i got about 3 weeks later i got a call from the metro team telling me to pay them i said not a chance i have been in correspondence with hsbc and am dealing wih the matter through them they said see you in court. I wrote back to hsbc again asking what it was all about and explained if metro call again i will inform legal aid and deal with it that way. I again asked for the final figure. I today got a letter back saying the debt has been passed on contact metro on......blah blah blah. Should i contact metro? or write back to hsbc or should i just see the millitary soliciter? I want to pay w what i owe but i dont want to be paying a debt recovery agency when none of this was my fault! i have copies of all letters sent and recieved if anyone wants to see them i can scan and send!!!! pleeeeeeaaaase help me this is doin my head in!!!!! thanks in advance Dave:(
