  1. If I was in your situation I would give up the second job and spend the time with your new wife. It seems to me working 16 hours a day isn't doing you any good and this should be the time you devote to each other. On a side note does the extra work you do not cover the £12 cost of a taxi for your wife?
  2. Chris, I take it you work for a company contracted to the council, and have done for 2 years?
  3. She has spoken to the Police Federation rep who has stated that they are in breach of employment law but the HR department are still persuing this.
  4. Hi all, My wife is being put onto the Poor Performance Procedure at work due to her sickness record. She is currently employed by Thames Valley Police as civilian staff. Prior to last week she has had 9 days off sick in the last 9 months, and because of this she has been told in a meeting with HR that her right to self certificate has been removed. This means that if she has 1 day sick she will have to get a doctors note. Last Tuesday she called in sick as she was suffering from a cold (which she passed to me:-|). She was informed by her manager that she would need a doctors note as she has had unacceptable levels of sickness. She informed her manager that if she was still ill on the Wednesday then she would visit the doctor, only to be told that she needed a doctors note anyway. She contacted our local doctor and made an appointment for the Wednesday. When she visited the doctor he has provided the doctors note as requested, at a charge of £14.60. He has also stated that legally TVP cannot remove her right to self certify. Finally he signed her off for 7 days as suffering from a viral infection. Ironically had she not gone to the doctor she would have returned to work on Thursday as she felt better, but couldn't as she was signed off. Now on her return to work she has been told that she is going to be put onto the PPP, which is the first stage of disciplinary. Obviously this is a concern to both of us. As a final note my wife suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is the main cause of her periods of sickness. Details of this can be found here - Verity - sharing the truth about PCOS. This basically is a disease that will be with her for the rest of her life. My concern is that the employer is not behaving fairly in this matter towards my wife, and in trying to cut down on sickness within TVP are targeting people with geniune health problems. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks for your help Pinky, I will write to them now.
  6. Following a recent period of unemployment I have fallen behind with a number of bills. One of these is with Thames Water for £298, which has been passed to Moorcroft Debt Recovery. I am unsure how, but they have my wife's mobile telephone number and are contacting her at least on a daily basis. However due to her suspicious nature she will not answer the phone to any number she does not recognise so she hasn't spoken to them as yet. I tracked their number back using 01614752870 - who calls me? Having read through some of the other threads relating to this company (MDR) I do not wish to pay them anything. I would happily pay Thames Water the full outstanding amount now that I am back in employment. What I would like to know is should I ask Moorcroft for a CCA for this account? Should I also ask them to stop contacting my wife, or ask her to call them and deny any association with the debt? Finally if I ask them for a Subject Access Request and they don't provide the information where do I stand? Many thanks in advance for any advice received.
