  1. Hi, Thanks, that will really help. My Wife was really scared yesterday. Tack
  2. Hi, My Wife and I moved abroad almost a year ago and while I have an agreement with the Consumer Credit Counselling Service for my difficulties my Wife has tried in vain to pay off her debts. She has recently sought the advice of the CCCS and they are in the process of combining our plans to ease the pressure on her. She has today received a letter from Allied International Credit on behalf of Lloys TSB informing her that the matter has been "passed to their legal representatives in our country of residence". The CCCS have advised her that any UK debt cannot be collected legally abroad so my question is, is this true and if not is this simply a scare tactic on behalf of the DCA? Regards Tack
  3. Hi, My Wife and I moved to Canada at the end of March this year. One of the reasons for doing this was so that we could help tp pay off some of our debts with the sale of our house in the UK. I have an arrangement with the CCCS but we have now found that despite our best efforts we are being chased relentlessly by collection agencies. My Wife got a call from an agency this morning concerning a debt from Lloyds TSB. He stated that the collection agency would pursue the debt by using a similar agency in Canada. Can they do this? We have received no correspondence from Lloyds TSB stating that she had defaulted or that a collection agency was taking over the debt. Indeed since Lloyds TSB's troubles earlier in the year we have had no correspondence from them at all. We have contacted the CCCS again and they are prepared to act on my Wife's behalf. Where do we stand particularly as regards living in Canada? Regards Tack
  4. Hi, Shortly after receiving a settlement offer from HSBC, our second in less than six months, they have now written to say they are withdrawing account facilities from us. After my last experience with them I moved my current account to Co-operative and my Wife has a separate current account with HSBC which they do not mention in the letter. I heard somewhere that this action may be in breach of the Banking Code, is this so? If not what advice is available to me? As ever all help gratefully received. Regards Tack
  5. Hi, Much against my better judgement my Wife talked me into accepting a settlement of £710 against a claim of £780 from HSBC earlier this year. We have now seen charges against our account skyrocket and I want to make a second claim before we close our account. Has anyone done this successfully? regards Tack
  6. Hi, I won't go into all the details on this but to say that I have been in dispute with Bulldog Broadband since November last year. As a result of my dispute I was refunded £230.00 in March of this year and told (but not in writing) that my relationship with them was finally at an end. I wish that was the case! Ever since I have been receiving bills from them via e-mail. I telephone each time to tell them that I don't owe anything but no action is taken. Finally, totally frustrated and incensed that I received a letter from a collection agency I wrote to the Chief Executive on September 27th. with my complaint in detail. As of yet I have received no written reply, only another e-mail telling me that I will be contactd by a member of the Customer Care Team "shortly". The e-mail was dated October 5th. What can I do to light a fire up their collective ar$$es? Regards Tack
  7. Pipper, I had my settlement offer yesterday, £710 out of a £787 claim. I sense a pattern emerging. Let us know what you intend to do. I have ten days to reply to mine but am reluctant to accept until HSBC agrees to stop levying the charges. Tack
