i have just found out about the default afew days ago while checking my credit report on experian and equifax and saw the default. this is the only default i have and will affect me for many years to come. can anyone help please

i have not yet started anything yet as i have not got a clue where to start and what to do. any help would be appreciated as i dont know what to do. thank you

i am new to the consumer action group and have recently joined as i was seeking advice on getting a default removed that has been put on my credit file without my permission as i have not received any notice of it. i owe the bank 1600 which includes charges that they have included and on top of that put a default that i had no knowledge off until i checked my credit reports. they owe me alot of money due to bank charges previously then i stopped using the account because i complained about the charges and it got put on hold. i started using the account 6 months ago and because of going over they charged me and the balance escalated. my main concern is getting the default removed more than the money as this will affect me in the near future with regards to getting a mortgage. any help or advice appreciated as i havent got a clue where to start and read the threads which seemed inspiring. any help appreciated. p.s sorry for overload.
