  1. Hi Thats interesting, we never heard from any Advertising Protection Agency despite all our disputing! Sounds odd.... We still get the occasional 'red letter' from Commercial Credit Solutions, which we now just ignore as we have so much evidence of having disputed this, and a reference number with trading standards. Don't think they'll ever do anything. I hate the fact that we can't do anything to stop this happening to others though. Trading Standards have been pretty useless to be honest. R
  2. Hello I wonder if someone could advise please.... I posted a little while ago about a default my OH has on his credit report, now with Robinson Way. We approached them as we want to clear up his report, and now have a copy of his signed application form to Capital One, and a full historical statement of transactions. My query is this - on the application form he has clearly ticked the box 'NO' to the Payment Protection Scheme. However throughout the statement he has clearly been charge PPI on all spending - I assume interest is charged on this too. He was also self-employed, which I understand make any PPI pretty much null and void. - So do we dispute this with Robinson Way to get them to reduce the default balance, or is this a Capital One argument where we should try to claim back from them after. Or do we just ignore it and try to offer RW a really low f&f? Any thoughts gratefully received. R x
  3. Revenant - in our case we had NO 'form' or any paperwork from then until after they rang chasing payment - which I clearly told them as I didn't know who they were! At which point, two working days later their 'invoice' suddenly turned up in the post! caledfwlch - we did ask for a recording, at which point they guy on the other end of the phone suddenly decided I was aggressive and nasty and wouldn't talk to me anymore, saying he'd send a copy in the post - needless to say this never turned up! I work in the print industry too, and agree that how they are behaving and demanding is NOT how legit suppliers operate! We wouldn't be demanding payment after supplying a proof or a 'quote'. carnation07 - good luck with them too!
  4. No they haven't because we haven't heard from them. We only know about this from checking OH's credit report. So the contact with RW hasn't actually begun, unless they are sending letters to an old address, where OH hasn't lived for 3.5 years.....
  5. Sorry, another question on this..... if we do decide on the route of approaching Robbers Way for the CCA, are we also entitled to have details of how the debt is made up (ie the statement, showing orginal purchases, plus all the charges etc.) The reason being OH really has no idea what was on the card...... So even if for some miraculous reason they produce a CCA, we still wouldn't want to pay without my OH knowing what the details are...... roxina x
  6. Thanks. I have spoken to Consumer Direct several times about this. However they just seem to give vague advice - send your letter recorded, ignore them etc etc. I don't feel really like they've helped much, nor do I know if anything will happen about what weinstein are doing, via TS. I just want something pro-active to happen!!!! Punishment!!! So can I take them to court for Harrassment? How would one go about that? I am aware a few months ago that the sending of 7 day letters requires acknowledgement of any dispute. No chasing letter we've ever received from these debt collector's ever mentions the dispute, despite us writing and telling them at least 3 times. roxina.
  7. Yes Boo, it is those guys! They have a lovely page on their website where they describe how they take people to court for non-payment!! When searching for details about them online, there are several notes about them forcing people (ie MoneySavingExpert and a newspaper) to offer apologies for printing 'slanderous' comments about them. I'm sorry, but if people are complaining about them on forums, having dealt with them myself, I believe the complaints! PGH7447... they are claiming we ordered an advert to appear in some emergency services advertising. After we queried them saying we knew nothing about it, they sent us some dodgy looking 'artwork' for us to approve - completely unlike any logo/advert we would use for our company, and that we had to pay asap. We replied the same day they sent us this that we had not ordered it, they replied back saying we hadn't approved the artwork in time and had broken their terms and conditions!!!! Its all been a complete joke. I wouldn't mind ignoring them Boo - but it p***s me off, and I know that they are doing the same thing to much more susceptible people than me that would just give in. Make me mad!! roxina
  8. Hello I also have a query on these guys. My OH's business got scammed by the old Advertising for the emergency services [problem].... one phone call from someone claiming to be a local fireman, then weeks of harrassment from numerous different companies all claiming he'd placed an order with them. We got rid of two of the companies, but one refused to give up - Weinstein Williams. Despite countless letters disputing any debt to them, and contact with trading standards, they ignored everything we said, and now have passed the alleged debt to Commercial Credit Solutions. So we get occasional final demands from this debt collector - the last two have both said 'as you have chosen to disregard our previous correspondance' - which is a complete lie. I have faxed them dispute details, I have recorded delivery'ed them. I have normal posted them. They are ignoring our correspondance. I checked their website - they say they've been going over 10 years - I checked their consumer credit license and companies house, they became LTD september last year, and got their consumer credit license earlier this year. They are in the same town as weinstein williams. Do you think they are in cahoots with each other?? Can anything be done to stop this? Can we do them for harrassment? Has anyone heard of Commercial Credit Solutions or had dealings with them? In the beginning I quite enjoyed the fight with Weinstein - it was quite entertaining as I know we are 100% in the right. Now its just getting really annoying...... TIA! roxina
  9. Thanks for reply's. I met OH in May 2006, and that was when he was refusing to talk to cap one on the phone, so I pretty well imagine he's made no contact/payment or anything with them since then - that is before the date of the default onthe credit report. As far as I know - anything in writing from them will be going to an address he hasn't lived at since 2005. Cap one didnt' mention his debt being sold, their letter simply said they couldn't trace him with the address provided - so maybe they have another address..... its all very confusing. we stated the address shown against the default account that is shown on the credit report. I guess we will write to 'robbers way' (love it!) about the CCA. Is there a specific letter we should use? Or just mention points you've all noted? thanks again! roxina
  10. Hello I would be grateful for advice/opinions on the following: When I first met my OH he used to get countless phone calls per day from Capital One. I suggested he speak to them, but having not known him long couldn't really do much. We moved and got a new phone number, and never heard from them again. Now we've been together several years, and I managed to get him to check his credit report. Its shows a Defaulted account for approx £2100, with Robinson Way. As far as I can get out of him, he only ever had a credit card with Capital One, so we assume this is their debt - and he has no idea what would have been on the card (I know alot of that value will be interest, but he has no idea what the original expenditure was). So we sent a letter to capital one asking for a CCA and a statement of transactions and charges, with details of his former address (as shown on the credit report against that account) and his name, dob etc. to trace him. They replied that they could not trace any record of him. We do not have an account number as OH never kept paperwork before I met him. So, we were on the verge of sending similar letter to Robinson Way - then I read numerous posts on this website about how awful they are to deal with, and how impossible it is to get CCA's. We want my OH's default cleared up and resolved, incase we want to get a mortgage in the next few years, but don't want to get in a situation where we're being chased for a debt which we still haven't established what it is- which I think will happen if we make contact with RW. The default is dated 2/12/2006 - so only 3 years old. Most recent date is 'file updated to 15/2/09'. Will this be statute barred in Dec 2012? Or 6 years from any 'update'? I am torn between getting involved with Robinson Way, or just holding out for another 3 and bit years. Really, what would everyone else do?!!!! Sorry for long post, wanted to try and get all info in. thanks in advance Roxina x
