  1. I followed the step by step guide and was offered £775 from HSBC (The total they owed me was £1092), I was asked to sign the letter of acceptance and they would credit my account. I did sign the letter but added a paragraph to it saying I was accepting this payment as the 1st interim payment against the total outstanding. The £775 was credited and did not hear from them about the remainder so I sent the letter before action again saying I was awaiting remainder of money owed. They have now sent me another letter offering £330 (which more or less adds up to the total they owed of £1092). I have to again sign the letter so they will credit it to my account and I will put on the letter 2nd interim payment. So you could say I have WON. However, the downside is that STUPID bank, even after paying me back the charges have once again charged me £30 for an unpaid item :-x (which they promised to pay) so the whole saga doth start again .................. lol

Thank you so much to this site for all your help and advice. The whole process has only taken a few months (I sent my first letter 24 August 2006)

Recommended you to loads of my friends in similar situation.

    Thanks, Thanks and Thanks again

  3. Hi Everyone

My name is Mike Smith (hehe!) But i bet you guessed that!

I have a HSBC account and i cannot wait to start the process of getting my money back!

I would appreciate any advice with reagrds to HSBC. I have already sent out my Data Protection Act letter from this sites many templates on 6 June 2006 and "result" I received a response (well two identical ones actually) and yesterday I actually received 3 out of the 6 years statements, hopefully I will receive the rest within the 40 day period.

I will endeavour to keep everyone updated with my progress.

    Cheers

    Mike
