  1. just to update you all. and to say thanks for any help cos at the moment im seething. on thursday 2nd april i sent an email to poundstillpayday saying that i had financial difficulties and requested to be put on a payment plan. i also requested that i would only communicate via email or written letter as phone calls to myself work or any referees could be classed as harrasment. On the 7th april a friend rang me to say a man called gavin from ptp rang him to ask where i was. he did not know so did not say. i noticed a missed call on my mobile when i arrived home and also a message on home answerphone from this gavin guy asking to contact him. on ringing him i had the rudest most ignorant man on the phone demanding money and threaterning that if i did not pay he would send people round to my house and he would keep calling every single day to my home, mobile, work, and referees till i paid up. i told him i sent an email saying that i requested my account to be put in dispute as the charge was exhorbitant and i was in financial difficulty. its not that i was not wanting to pay it back just i couldnt afford it. he replied that i was lying and should have thought things through. he said there is no way i would be put on a payment plan so shut up and pay up. i told him it was now more than harrasment and under the telegraphy act 1948 he was breaking the law if he carried out any threats or carried on phoning. his reply was that i was such a smart arse quoting my law stuff but not so smart that i couldnt abide by a simple agreement i had signed. i asked for a supervisor to speak to but he was unwilling to give a name or pass me on. and told me i was a bloody nuisance. i asked him not to swear and he laughed and said its not swearing look it up in the dictionary. tyhe whole thing would be a farce if it wasnt so intimidating toward me. i then rang a coustomer relation number which he begrudgingly gave me to report it. the woman there agreed he was rude and said a supervisor would ring me tomoro. i asked about the email but she said it should have been sent to a different department( she was in malta and this gavin guy was in ireland) however she would try and pass it on. so where do i go from here? ive asked by phone twice and by email for the phone calls to stop but they havent. its maddening and upsetting. i am willing to pay and have even offered to pay what i can and any more if i can afford it. but they wont listen.
  2. hi all im new here and just discovered im like many others in having problems with poundstilpayday (northway finance). to get to the point i used these guys just before christmas as id been ill and my pay for the month was lower than normal. so out of stupidity i borrowed from them. i paid on payday by the direct debit but then unfortunately as is with this kind of thing the interest charged was high and left me 149 out of pocket. meaning that i had to reloan again to cover the shortfall. (stupid yeah but hindsight is a great thing) this meant i was now owing in total of 649 a month. during this time i swapped bank acounts and before i could send off my new bank details online to them they rang me twice demanding to know why my direct debit was cancelled. when i replyed it was because i swapped banks they informed me that they would now be charging me 59 pound as the outstanding balance would not be taken out ontime by direct debit on my account and i would no longer be able to reloan with them. i explained that i could pay the 649 pound over the phone on the payday but they said it had to be direct debit and that would include the charge too. i asked why they were charging when i had the money to pay. and that i could not afford the charge too as i had other bills to pay. they replied it was agreed to in my contract and i must abide by it. after checking on here and on other sites about how people have also fared with poundstilpayday i rang them today ( day before payday ) and said that i had discovered it was an extortianate penalty charge which i should not have to pay them. also i requested for correspondance by email and letter only as they were threatening to ring my work.( they also rang 3 times in one day at home asking for the direct debit to be set up.) and due to the amount i was now having to pay it would have a huge financial impact on me the woman on the phone said she would note it on my file then asked if i could make just a small token payment on payday to them. i said i could make 50 pounds as it is what i can afford. she said it was not good enough and they needed at least 50% of the now 708 pound which was owing. so thats what they class as a small token payment. i know its stupid to let myself get in a situation and i should have sought advice before but can anyone help please?
