  2. hi newbie to forums received letter from robinson way debt collectors salford, my real name address stating a demand for payment for £1400.00 ex abbey bank acount. the debt company stated the person had same name date of birth as me, but lived difrent address city to me and because of this it must be me . so i told them to check the electoral register which would comfirm my time at my present address. and this person with same name was not me. they declined to check this imformation as they were to busy. so i phoned abbey national bank complaints, gave them details acount number name, they said sold debt on to third party ie robinson way debt collectors, they said they would get back to me , they did said it was all mistake the person who owed the money did not have same name as me and the information some how was wrong that robinson way debt collectors had. and were satisfide i was not the person owing debt. i have asked abbey national to put this in writing to me. are they in breach of the data protection act, or are robinson way debt collectors for not checking the information befre hassling me over this debt. this was over a week a go ive never had a letter of robinson way debt collectors apoliging for being hassled over a debt that is mine. i have identy theft insurance card protection with cpp york who also contacted robinson way debt collectors over a week ago were told that the case was closed would be writing to me with an apoligy. i think both abbey national and robinson way debt collectors should compensate me for hassle worry, as in my opion these debt companys are to quick aquising the wrong people , demanding money witout checking there facts. i also in my letter to abbey national pionted out wasnt good enough saying the data they sold on to third party some how was wrong, as one day this sort thing could iff sent to iumfirm person with health problems could kill them. and they have a responsability to who they sell debt data on and how these debt companies are hassling innocent people with threats etc for debts they dont. any advice on this to claiming compensation to me its about bringing these debt companys into check not about the money ,as a lot think they can hassle anyone they choose too. this is not the first time this has happened to me. its about ordinary people stood up to these debt companies . mike in nrth uk
