  1. Thanks for your speedy responses, I agree, snails pace with all LA's.....does anyone know the legal timescale for bringing legal action against them? We're just a bit jumpy as everyone involved has 'gone underground' and are wondering if this is because there is some time limit we have to do something about the situation.
  2. I think your company are being outragious, flatly refuse, you don't have to do anything, you clearly are not comfortable with the proposal anyway. Good luck
  3. Hi, It doesn't sound right that you are being asked to take breaks and not being paid for them. What do your co workers think of this? If you all feel the same way, you could then speak with your management about the fact that you want breaks when your contract stipulates, not at any other time. I don't think they can make you have breaks when you are supposed to be working. You might be relying on the money, you probably are. But I have to say I don't know the law around these things, what do other people think?
  4. Hi all, I am searching for some advice on the following. A branch of our local council planned and funded some work under a grant for us. This was partially a grant for our daughter who has disabilities and partially a 'disrepair' grant. The department planned stairs by drawing these and gave them to builders whom they had employed to carry out the work. The department advised they were liaising with the building regs department. We were on holiday through most of the big work so didn't have anything to do with it at all really. Following completion, the department who had managed and funded the project came and said they were happy with the work. They advised us on the rest of the work (we planned to complete a room in the attic) and speaking to building regs (we had already put an application in), and how to go about the actual building and materials etc. We asked the building regs department to visit and advise us of completing our attic conversion (the grant had paid for the stairs to the attic). The building regs have said the stairs are not good enough and have to come out and be rebuilt, they said there has been no liaising from the department who had carried out the work. The building regs man said that the problem is not our responsibiity, and emailed saying he wanted to set up a meeting with the builder and the person from the council department who had managed the project. This however, was at the beginning of January, and we have heard very little since, despite leaving messages and emailing. What are our time limits for doing something legal about this, I am not sure what law it comes under. The work would be worth around £4,500 ish, and we have had a new carpet put in on the stairs (prior to finding out the stairs were wrong). Obviously we don't really want it to come to this as it will take a lot of time etc, any advice would be appreciated.
