  1. I have just received the rest of my statements as per my DPA request to HBOS. I have calculated that all of the chargs applied to my account since 2000 total £292 which is around what I thought it would be. I have just finished the letter that I am going to send to HBOS tomorrow which declares all of my charges to them, presents the historical legal cases and demands that the charges be returned. It will be printed and sent recorded delivery tomorrow. I expect that I will receive the standard response from them but either way I will keep everyone posted of what they say next...
  2. I have had a Citi Card for around 12 months. In that period they have applied three charges (2 late payment fees and 1 over limit fee) totalling £75. I have began action against Citi Cards and here is my progress so far... I sent 19 May a letter detailing the charges applied to my account over the past 12 months and also the various legal cases and parliamentary discussions that have been taking place, along with the OFT's ruling. I asked that these charges be refunded. On 27 May I received a response that acknowledged the OFTs findings and that Citi Card were reviewing their charges. However Citi Cards have stated that they still stand by the legality of their charges; that I agreed to them in the T&C; and that they will not be refunding them. I will send a final appeals letter to this decision and will advise Citi Cards that if they do not refund these charges I will initiate a claim against them in court. I'll keep you posted...
  3. I have an account with the Bank of Scotland and I have encountered a few charges on the account over the past five years totalling around £300. I have started action against BOS and here is my progress so far... On May 2 I sent a DPA request asking for all details on all charges applied to my account within the last 5 years (I live in Scotland). Today (May 27) I received a big envelope from Bank of Scotland full of statements (and a nice big "Friend for Life" phrase on each one!). Shock horror - there is some information missing. The statements date back to August 2000 (before the period of my request) and only go up to May 2004. I am hoping that the one envelope wasn't big enough to hold all of my bank charges in so I shall eagerly watch the letterbox on Monday and Tuesday to see if the rest of my statements come in. Now what I need to do is tally up all the charges on the data I have and see what the damage is...
  4. Well here is my first post! I currently have a Student Royalties account with RBS and they have charged me so much over the past four years (grrr). Last year I closed an Interest Paying current account with them, as I no longer required it. That too was subject to some very expensive charges from RBS. I estimate that the total amount of charges, which RBS have levied against me over the past five years, is around £1500 and possibly more. My progress so far... On 2 May I sent a DPA request for all bank charges levied on both accounts in the past five years. I enclosed a cheque for £10 and emphasised that the Data Protection Act stipulates that an organisation can only charge a maximum of £10 for the request and that RBS should not be charging me £10 per account for each request (as I expect they might try and do). As of 27 May I have still not received any correspondence from RBS as yet and they haven't cashed their cheque yet. On 1 June I will be sending them a letter reminding them that the statutory time of 40 days is almost up. I'll keep you posted!
