  1. Ok, letters are written as per the templates (thank you again!) and off to HSBC/Metrpolitan. Am guessing they will likely have the details as changes made not that long ago really (2 years isnt that long really) but time is good, helps me sort my head out if nothing else! Will let you know how things progress here - so good to know that there are people out there who can advise and offer some support! makes me feel much better about it all! Thanks again!
  2. THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU will cca them and get details and SAR HSBC too. Thankyou again!!!!
  3. Silverfox - thankyou. will send off CCA anyway - should I ring metropolitan to get address? Or does anyone know where I can find it so I don't have to talk to these people yet? Consolidated everything back in 2004/5, not sure which, but managed loan would have been about 2 years ago. I think. Sorry, brain fried today by bad news overdose... What is a SAR and how do I go about doing that? And does it have to be only on managed loan if that a merge of accounts, or one per account etc? Do I send it to head office or to the branch i opened the account at?Sorry to be daft but not done this before... My credit was dire anyway - so not alot of change there... Biggest worry - can they CCJ me without me knowing? I know they can CCJ me if I ignore their letters, but I haven't had any as they don't have my address, but can they still go ahead anyway? Really really don't want to get another CCJ (have just satisfied one, with one joint one outstanding thanks to husband, don't need another).
  4. Please someone offer some help here - am panicking and no idea what to do. I had a bank account with HSBC, got a loan, and a credit card. To cut long story short, partner went unemployed, I was paying eveything on Credit card (i know...) so did what I thought was sensible and consolidated into one loan and cut up the card. Then I got made redundant. Got another job on pittance, so coudn't afford repayments on the loan (now in excess of 20,000). So i spoke to them, got a managed loan account, got repayments down to still large but manageable figure. This was in May of 2007 ish. Since then, hubby again lost job, got another in another area so we moved. had slight hiccup (one month in arrears I believe) with loan, but otherwise kept paying every month, DD from bank account to managed loan. Only thing is, when moved in the summer, I didn't change my address with HSBC. I know this ostrich like, but thought if just kept paying them... Which I have been doing, every month via standing order. Rang HSBC today as screw up with other bank meant payment not made in time this month, will be sorted ASAP, expect Feb as usual, only to be told that account is closed, loan closed, gone to Metropolitan, contact them please. Can they do that? And where have my payments been going? And how do I negotiate payments on 20,000 unsecured when earning nothing and already struggling with everything, and meant to be doing IVF and horribley afraid that they will try to bankrupt me or something. What do i do?
  5. GRRRR!!! Am so frustrated with Nationwide that now want to make their life as difficult as they are making mine... What I need now is some advice on the best way, and this seems to be the place to get that! Let me fill you in on the story so far.... Firstly, I am being charged £30 everytime a Standing Order goes out with insufficient funds. I have asked for SO to be last working day of the month as that is when my wages are paid, but no. Best they can do is 30th (how will that work in Feb? and is that works is Feb why can't they make in 31st all year and do same thing for any months of less than 31 days?!) So when last working day is 31st, as in October and December, they are charging me 30 quid, when money paid in at 12.01am on 31st via BACS! But this is a minor issue. The real issue is that I have two SO's. One to HSBC for enormous scary loan that HAS to be paid. One to another government loan thing (Ex-Student) - let's call it Loan Co.. HSBC to go on 30th (see above) and Loan Co. to go on 1st. Not difficult. Except when I filled in the mandate form for Loan Co., Nationwide have entered the wrong reference number, substituting a zero for the letter O. ok, annoying, got rude letter from loans people, went to get it changed. The little man in the agency office (the closest one, the branch is over 30min drive away) gave me a form, told me to fill it in, it would cancel and replace the old one. But, I said, should i not cancel the old one? No, he said, this REPLACES the old one. Are you sure I asked? Basically at that point got told was being stupid and yes they were sure. Ok. Two days later, went back in to check - spoke to the other nice man in the agency office. Had it all happened ok I asked? Yes, he said, I remember all this - I have even emailed head office to tell them that this replaces the old one for you as I could see last time that you were worried. O thank you kind sir, says I, and leaves, feeling all warm and happy about kind personal service. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!! Have received rude letter from Loan Co. saying that I have screwed up on my agreement, am in arrears, pay us the installment in 5 days or we will take legal action to obtain whole balance. ARGH!! :-oEven checked account balance at ATM, and am missing around about the money that would be needed to pay HSBC and Loan Co, so rest of money used to pay all my other debts etc (a whole other thread). So no money left to pay them. Rang Nationwide this morning. They say that HSBC has been recalled due to insufficient funds (that 5 minutes thing again re 30th and 31st - another 30 pound charge) and not tried again so now defaulting on huge loan:-o. And I have two SO's to Loans Co. that both have gone through. WHAT? Should only have one, says I. They can't see where gone wrong, will call back when worked out which to cancel, say they can't help re HSBC and haven't apologised. So I spoke to supervisor. She says will try to get me one recalled and account credited ASAP - will call back in an hour. Two have passed and no response yet.... What i would like to know is - can i push to get charges back (will also change date of HSBC SO while at it). Can I require them to help me in this instance as they didn't bother to tell me that HSBC one had been returned. I would also like compensation for wrong advice on two occasions, mental horrors (scary letters and potential default on huge scary loan which could have horrible consequences) and general hassle and incompetence. And a letter of apology to me and to Loans Co - after they find out where that double payment has got to!!! All advice gratefully received!
  6. Thanks for the reply - will send off the CCA request to Link today, recorded delivery! Will also draft up letter to OFT - thought they were being cheeky but didn't know precisely what grounds to pull them up on!! The original GE account was (I think) a storecard - have had three of these in the past, all cards got nicked and I am a muppet about keeping records so not sure what account it would be, and Link have kindly not told me! (Topshop or monsoon are prime contenders, think the other was paid up - in fact overpaid!) Would have been taken out around 1999 - 2002 ish depending on which account, and would have been being paid through to 2006 ish when had depression, lost job, and moved home alot... everything kind of got a bit in a mess at that point! Re the water bill - yes, as far as am aware is correct. Thought about trying to go to OC, but they were being harsher about payment terms than the DCA was (unusual!!) and had got DCA involved when bank kindly cancelled my DD to them without telling me - well, either bank or OC cancelled it cos I sure didn't! Will also write to OC as suggested though, bit much to use two especially if not allowed to do that.
  7. Dear all, Please forgive me if I make some huge mistakes here - new at all this! I really really need some advice on handling the bunch of DCA's who are harrassing me at the moment. I know I owe money, but also don't earn much and they just don't seem to understand that I can't pay them money I don't have! The real problems are with two of them: CCS and Link Financial. With Link, they seem to be chasing a debt they have been sold by GECapital - they sent the notification of the sale in a letter saying that I had defaulted and that this means I can't pay in installments, and that they suggested I contact a solicitor or CAB if I had questions. This letter arrived the same day as a letter from them informing me of a default they applied the day before either of the letters reached me, along with a £75 tracing fee! Am planning on sending a standard CCA letter - does this sound about right? With CCS - I owed money on a closed water bill. I got (on the same day) letters from CCS and Moorcroft saying they need payment now, on the same accoutn (same ref, same balance). Spoke to Moorcroft and arranged terms (too much but will have to struggle I think), but not going to pay twice! so contacted OC to say dealing with Moorcroft, call off CCS and wrote to CCS to say - no dice, I don't acknowledge debt to your company, OC will be contacting you themselves to confirm. Is this right ? (wrote it before finding this forum!) Any and all advice very gratefully received - these are just the two most pressing of current hassles, and reaching the point where they are likely to become straw that broke camel's back.... 8. Hi all! Have just registered for the first time after reading some of the posts on this site and finding them very helpful! I have been looking for advice on how to handle the crippling bunch of debts I am currently saddled with, and more specifically, how to cope with letters and cards from Link Financial and various others. Am hoping that some of you guys can offer advice or refer me to posts that might help! Newbie x
