  1. I have been living abroad for the last 18month and fortunately enough I visited the Uk on holiday on to find an SDA through the letter box. I called the process server to find out what it was all about, he informed me that he had to serve a bankruptcy petition and wanted to know where he could come to meet him. As I was flying out of the country the next day, I informed him that I was not resident in the country and did not receive any information from them. Returned to the UK a few weeks ago only to find a Substituted SDA stamped by the court and sent by Ist Credit solicitors notifying me of a hearing date. In my panic I went to borrow money to pay off the balance outstanding because I had no clue on what to do, contacted insolvency practitioners who were going to be charging £200 per hour (dint have the money to pay for that kind of fee). I went abroad again only to receive another notice from the solicitors. I no longer reside in the UK and work abroad for the last 18months The debt was transferred from Halifax to 1st Credit. total debt £10350. The debt was paid off before the hearing date, but I have since received another court notice from 1st credit solicitors requesting about £3000 in court fees. I want to dispute this cost, can this be done, I do not have any more funds to pay for costs, what can I do, hearing is in 2 days time Need help

  4. Hi All, I received a letter from Moorcroft regarding a debt I owed to EGG. I subsequently sent a CCA request and got a response back(letter attached) a few days later, I received the CCA (attached) but this was not signed . I have since read a thread posted by PT2537 on this site stating that s77/78 does not require the creditor to provide a signed agreement. (any ideas on this one) I thought I was on a winner but now in doubt having read PT2537 thread Can anyone advice on the best way to progress this one egg1.doc Egg2.doc Egg3.doc egg4a.doc
  5. The rule does not affect only part-timers it affects everyone who's income exceeds their applicable amount. Unfortunately tax credits is also counted as an income. I dont quite know how central govt has worked out the weekly entitlement but everyone complains its a ridiculous figure in this day and age. How much is your rent and are you on the local housing allowance(the amount you get may differ depending on your circumstance) if you have children the cost of nursery fees is disregarded from your rent as long as your child attends a registered child care provider
  6. No I think you've got it wrong. A copy of the credit agreement is attached to the other thread posted under debt advice. The credit agreement shows the total balance to pay as just over £31k. Thats why I am confused. I thought the total balance to pay should not be more than 24K but it is.
  7. Credit agreement has been scanned on Thanks
  8. Credit agreement has been attached
  9. Morning All, Just joined this site and need some advise, currently getting too much stress from Santander. I signed a hire purchase agreement in 2005. Cash price for the hire purchase was £26395, I put down a deposit of £6600, total charge for credit was £4586.20 over 48months, Credit facility fee £150.00 and a completion fee for £50 ( It seems they had included the credit fee and completion fee as part of the loan unsure if this is the norm) Rate of interest on credit 5.5% APR 11.1% Amount of credit is £19795 Total amount payable on the agreement is £30982.12(I dont quite know how this has been worked out) considering the repayments are just over £500 for for 47 months and 556.90(final payment).Have I been conned somewhere along the line by Santander?????? I've read through so many discussion and still confused on whether this agreement is challengeable. I have just completed the CCA request but waiting for advise before sending it (so that I dont make a complete prat of myself with the creditor) Need Help on steps to follow Santander.doc
  10. You only lose 65p on a £ if your income exceeds your applicable amount. For council tax benefit its 20p on a pound. The applicable amount is a figure determined by central govt , its based on your circumstances and it changes every year. For example the applicable amount for a single person this year is £60.50p.w or round about that. Say you earned £100 pw as a single person you have an excess income of £100 - £60.50 = £39.50. Housing Benefit would then take 65% of that excess income from your entitlement and you get the balance. It has nothing to do with you being self employed. It applies to everyone Hope you find this useful
