  1. Thanks Silver Fox for the advice. I dont think I ever took out PPI. I have tried reclaiming about £600 of charges from HSBC but got rejected after the big court case. I have a barclaycard debt which is around £900 however the limit on that card was only £350 so there must be a hell of a lot of charges on there! I got this card in 1999 when I was a Uni student! I really need to have a look at my credit file to see exactly when the debts will disappear. Is it strange not to hear about a debt in 12 months? I owe HSBC 2 sums for my current account and personal loan but they 'appear' to have given up..
  2. Thanks for the reply. I think the fact I dont own my house and I've basically had zero contact with them in recent times will give off a scent of 'this is a lost cause'...
  3. Hello wise debt experts! I believe my story is pretty typical, wont bore you too much! I’ve amassed unsecured debt (Current accounts, loans, credit cards, mobiles contracts) over the years which stands around £6-7k at the moment. Most of my debt is around 4 or 5 years old as I was served a CCJ around 5 years back which I have paid off. I have had hundreds of letters from DCA’s regarding these bills which threaten court action but I have a feeling they have pretty much given up as the letters are always the same. The biggest debt is around £2k which I haven’t heard from in over 12 months (HSBC Personal loan). Due to paying off a debt which I received a CCJ for and some other debt at the time my girlfriend has loan which I pay for monthly of £200. Almost finished finally! I believe that after a debt has been inactive for 6 years it is automatically remove from my credit file. This being true then in 24 month max then a lot of this debt might have disappeared?? To pay this debt off I would probably have to commit to around £200 a month for 3 years so I am weighing up the options of leaving the debt to run down… The questions I have are:- 1) In the last year or 2 of my debt how likely am I to receive a CCJ on debts of sub £2k, most sub £1k? 2) Will the CCJ stay on my file for 6 years from the time it was issued or does it disappeared with the related debt?? 3) If it does disappear with the debt can I ignore it?? Most probably daft questions but any advice would be gratefully received, I’m at a point where I would like to start a fresh and debating the best way of getting back to square 1! Cheers
  4. Fear not, I'd not gone back far enough with my address history. If a prospective lender asks for the last 3 years address details does this mean they dont get to see the debts from the addresses before then???
  5. Hello People! I registered for Credit Expert ready to be amazed at the amount of debt showing on there, my girlfriend got a free report for herself and it showed loads of stuff on there from years ago. My credit expert however shows nothing apart from my current account opened in August.... I havent taken out any new credit for probably 5/6 years but have letters coming on a daily basis about debt with Capital One, Barclay card and 2 mobile phone contracts (O2 and three). Also I have £5k debt with HSBC who have not been in contact for a long time. All unsecured cards/loans. It states my credit profiles as poor but the only reasons for this are multiple applications for credit and not being on electoral role. Does this seem strange to anyone, is it possible different credit agencies will hold the grim realities of my credit history or have these debts been erradicated from my history despite still chasing me?? Very confusing. Hope someone might be able to clear things up! Thanks!
  6. Thought as much. Do I simply ring them and ask for the money back? Is it something more sinister that they have fabricated a invoice? Fraud??
  7. Hello! I have a funny query that probably has been covered before but I couldnt find any to get advice from. I left my flat in Feb this year and when the landlord came round he pointed out some carpet stains on the carpet which I said we would pay to have fixed. we also damaged a key fob that we agreed to pay to replace. They held onto the deposit for a couple of months while they sorted this out, we kept on phoning asking when it would be done so they can give us the rest back along with the deposit. Eventually we got a invoice from a company in Wigan, even though the flat was in Rochdale. So we got the deposit minus the carpet replacement and the keyfob which we thought was expensive but acceptable. Today I had a parcel accidentally go to my old address so I went round to pick it up and got invited in for a brew. The new occupier show us the carpet was in the same state we left it and also she said they had not given her a new key fob. The carpet cost was £125. My question is - has the letting agency broken any laws with false invoicing?? And do we have a claim for any money back?? Thanks for reading!
  8. hi Peeps, Just been reading through a fair few examples of people cases and I thought it might be better to tell you my individual case rather than trying to decypher all the other threads without much knowledge on this subject. Received a SD from 1st Credit from a Citifinancial debt of about £3,000 dated 18/12. This is something they have threatened from the 1st time they contacted me about this about 18+ months ago. It was sent via recorded post from what I can tell, no stamp on it. Also it was sent to my mums address where i have not been living for 12 months, not been too keen to tell my creditors my new address although I am registered for council tax and voting at my new address. I'm renting at my new address but have slight concerns over bailifs taking my TV! Although the flat was in my girlfriends name soley before I moved in.. The demand did not come as a surprise as it had been threatened from day 1. The questions I'd like to ask are:- 1 Do they deliberately send these over xmas where there are loads of bank holidays and weekends so I have less time to get to the P.O to send a dispute?? 2 If I send a request for a CCA do I send this back to the person named on the SD and will this halt anything going to court? 3 As it didnt go to my new address could I have a case that this was never received by me?? 4 If it turns out the CCA is in order, can I make a reasonable monthly payment offer to settle before bankrupcy? 5 Any more advice? Thanks if you've read through this. I have a side issue with some Barclaycard debt but will bring this up separately!! Cheers
