  1. I'm sure there not allowed to take cooking stuff, and also surely they cant take pets?? Or do they want to take the tank and leave the fish??? From Bailiffs and debt collectors : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits What can a bailiff take? Bailiffs can't take essentials such as clothing, bedding, cookers, fridges, most furniture and the 'tools of your trade' (for example, a computer you use for work). They can take non-essential items such as your television. They can take possessions outside your home (for example, your car or garden equipment), or in unlocked sheds and garages.
  2. thankyou no I had no tenancy for the address I was briefly at after the address I am being chased for. we had a tenancy agreement at this address, with both our names on, but i'm the only one who it appears they have been able to find as my old housemate ran from this address with many unpaid bills and lots of damage to the flat they are trying to keep my deposit for. after I moved out of this house someone else moved in and they put them on the tenancy without them paying a deposit and the agency refused to refund my deposit (this is another matter I'm also having alot of hassle with as after talking to cba they informed me the agency acted illegally). As they cannot keep my money for damage caused at the property after they'd removed me from the tenancy agreement...
  3. Hi, I'm currently being harrassed for a bill at an old address I shared with one other person. They first started harassing me in around august 08 for a bill for from Sept 07-mar 07. For £437.47 I had actually moved out of this address at the end of December 07, but they wouldnt accept my proof that I had moved (which was bank letters addressed to my new house - as I had no other proof as the landlord at this address gave me no tenancy and was very slack, which caused me to only be there a few months). As soon as I moved again the letters and bailiffs visits started happening. I was pregnant and this all caused me alot of undue distress during my pregnancy. I had my baby in the begining of September, and when I got home from hospital after a very traumatic pregnancy I had a notice of attendance for £461.97 + costs... They demanded an immediate payment of £109.07. I rang them to say I could not afford this or pay it now, as I had just got out of hospital, and was and still am on minimum maternity pay and can barely afford my rent. The women told me on the phone in no less words that if I did not pay the amount now. They would harass me until I did. I then recieved two letters dated the 2nd of october demanding immediate payment of £479.97. As well as another 'Final reminder' saying I will be charged another £110 for a van to remove my goods from my home... I contacted them to tell them that I was not happy that I was having to pay the full amount for a time I was not even there, and that I knew there were at least two other people living there after I had moved out. They said that they were proceeding with their clients confirmation to persue only me at my address, and to provide proof of my income and everyone else who lived with me at my shared house, as to arange repayments that 'they agreed the amount' (I cannot afford) of £25pw or £100pm starting on the 31st october, and then every 28days after. I sent a payment of £40 by cheque to them saying this is all I can afford pm, which they cashed, but then they sent me another letter on 20th october. Asking for £439.97. But now only at £25pw every 7days, and no monthly option. I then contacted the council to tell them to please contact rossendales to tell them that not all this was my bill, as I wasn't even there for over 3months of it, and they'd made no effort to find the other people who owed money on this bill, or deduct the amount for the time I was not there. The council then would only aknowledge that I'd moved out in febuary, but they did not inform rossendales, and no money was taken off the bill for the period feb-mar (even though I moved at the end of december). I then recieved a letter on the 6th november demanding the same £439.97. and saying again they are going to charge me another £110 for that van. All this time I have also attempted phone contact with rossendales and the council and this has resulted in a large phone bill and no further movement in the matter. Despite both partys saying that if I got the other peoples addresses and info they would chase them for there parts of the bill. When I did this, they then turned round and said they never said that, and that they we're not going to stop harrassing me. The final letter I recieved was on 17th november saying I can pay them £10pw due on the 25/11. I've had previous mental health problems, and this has caused me so much stress and anguish during and after my pregnancy that I'm concerned it my have caused some post natal depression, and I'm really at my wits end with all this harrassment from these bullies. I have spoken to citizens advice, and they advised me on the matter, and on speaking to the bailiffs and telling them of this, the man on the phone told me 'they dont know anything about the law. I know the laws' :s I really dont know what to do anymore???
