  1. Hi, Not sure I have posted this in thebest place but here it goes. I have been paying off 3 debts with HSBC who have recently written to me offering a full and Final Settlement, 1) how do I know that this is legit and they wont come back to me for the rest. 2) regarding the credit file, is this a good result? 3)They are asking for 50% of the toal loan, I have stopped paying my installments 3 months ago to get a good full and final settlement think this is a good deal. Below is the wording on the letter - is it worth getting this seen my a legal expert? I welcome any advice. Dear.. We confirm we are prepared to accept .... in settlement of this account You can make payment immediately using your Credit or Debit card by phoning TELEPHONE 0845 609 0545. Alternatively a Bank Giro Credit Slip is printed at the bottom of this letter to enable you to pay at any branch of HSBC bank plc. Bankers Drafts or Building society cheques must be made payable to MCS and should quote your account references. Remember, to take advantage of this settlement proposal you must ensure this payment reaches us as follows :- amount and date Failure to make this payment is likely to result in the offer of settlement being WITHDRAWN. When your payment has cleared, we will notify the relevant Credit Reference agencies to mark as satisfied any default registration relating to this debt.
  2. Hi, Longshot, but I am after then names of people who wrote me a cheque and I subsequently paid into my account. Is there any chance that the back will hold these cheques in some form possibly on microfilm? And would I be able to get copies? Thanks

  4. Hi, Our car was flashing top up water so topped up but kept coming up - so decided to put it in for a service. And highlighted this area to mechanic. Pick up car from service pay 350 pounds. Few days later top up water flashes again, take back to garage they fix and send me on my way. Wife on her way to france with the car, car breaks down and waits for the AA who fix the problem and tell me the garage broke the valve cap. My wife phoned the garage angry that they hadnt fixed the problem despite returning and then being sent on her way. The garage said they can look at a partial reimbursement, but need to go and see them tomorrow - what would a reasonable reimbursement be? Anything else i can say to make it look like i know what im on about?
  5. Hi, Has anyone written to the financial ombudsman about mis-selling of thier mortgage? I basically understood I was entering a two year mortgage (all correspondance was for a 2 year fixed( yet at the last minute they changed the offer to 3 years. Or failing that (stupid question) renoegotiating with my mortgage lender.
  6. Hi not sure if anyone can help. Have a mortgage with Platform for 3 years fixed at 6.70 after which the rate is variable 2% above base rate, although I applied for a 2 year, the illustration from Anymortgage stated 2 years (i still have this). Although the final docs stated 3 years. Have I any chance to contest this with Anymortgage or Platform? I am currently paying 1955.29 a month at a rate of 6.70, and if the 2 year mortgage was in place next month the 2% above bank rate would be just 726.67 Anyone with any advice id love to hear from you.
  7. Thanks for your advice guys - i have had bank charges etc added, but now all i want to do is offer a full and final settlement, becuase i have been selling things like furniture to make payments, then the interest has been so high i have just been treading water for close to 2 years now. I want this to end more than anything. I know for sure i will never get credit again, i know i am responsible for my actions, I know a bank is a business at the end of the day, but i think i would have been better off borrowing off a loan shark who would have probably had me beaten up a few times by now - but feel its been worse through halifax and HSBC. no no PPI If anyone has succefully made a full and final payment i would love to hear from you.
  8. Hi, I have 22,000 pounds debts with HSBC and Halifax. I have been struggling to make the repayments for close to 2 years now, and 1 year ago i went to payplan, with the hope interest could be frozen, and I could start clearing the debt. After a year with Payplan neither HSBC or Halifax will reduce or freeze interest, so i have not made a payment for 3 months, the reason being that whilst i was paying they were never keen to sort out a mutually agreeable repayment plan, just taking all my payments and adding more in interest and charges. This is really ruining my life, my wife and I are finished, and we are only living in the same house for financial reasons, but i sleep on the sofa every night. What I want to know is how to go about a full and final, and get on with my life. I have had my car valued, and I should be able to raise £5,000 if I sell that, but would only be interested in offering that to HSBC and Halifax on a pro rata basis as a full and final settlement. Any tips otr advice - if i go jump off a bridge tomorrow they wouldnt get any back, and i honestly never felt so low.
  9. Any advice, my wife switched her account to Alliance and Leister for the sole reason of the £100 pound switching fee they offered. She went in and spoke to the guy in the branch and said the reason was the 100 pounds. He said she would be eligible, They have since refused to pay as she did not transfer any direct debits, but (she had no direct debits with her previous bank but now has one with A&L). Below the letter she recieved. Thankyou for your recent communication. I have looked into the issue you have raisedand hope we are know able to agree a way forward. Having had the opportunity to review the circumstances surrounding your complaint, I understand you have been advised that you do not qualify for the £100 switching incentive. May I respectfully advise we are unable to offer you the £100 switching incentive as no direct debit and standing orders have been switched to your new Premier Current Account. This is clearly advertised on our website. However in a genuine attempt to resolve your complaint, I have credited £25 to your account as a gesture of goodwill. any advise
  10. I owe Halifax £7000 on my credit card and have been making the payments through payplan for the last 8 months, but they have continued to add interest which means my debt is getting bigger and bigger so i wrote to them saying i will not be making any more payments until we can sort out a reduced rate ideally wanting them to freeze interest for a year. Well yesterday i had a slip yes not a letter more of a slip from Halifax which is from Retail Bank Collection and says IMPORTANT NOTICE our representative will be calling your home on 12th June 2009 PLEASE TELEPHONE 0845 300 0580 IF THIS IS NIOT CONVENIENT anyone had this or anyone know whats happening now?
  11. Hi Guys, thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it. I have already opened a parachute account and havent used the HSBC accounts for 6 months, just been paying money in via payplan (all of which is swallowed up in fees and interest!) Well i have just written a follow up letter to my wifes (now closed HSBC account) which is owed about £300 in charges. Just reading through the forums to find any tips on getting the interest frozen - thats whats killing me!
  12. Thanks Guys, I will press on with the getting the charges back. Any advice or experiences of stopping my payments to HSBC, whats the point when it all goes on charges and interest, then get passed to a dca where no charges and interest is stopped.
  13. Thanks Lee, I will do. I have been lurking here in the background for some time, and written many a letter to HSBC, and have got nowhere. I would love to be able to sit infront of someone who actually has some authority to make a decision, so i can thrash out a reasonable arrangement and then we could both stop wasting so much time on this. Thats why i am thinking of stopping all payments to HSBC, and writing a SAR, then waiting to go to court. I dont want to go bankrupt and I am willing to pay what I have borrowed, i just feel sick that its damaging my personal life when I have bent over backwards to sort this out, i am aiming to get charges refunded and interest frozen, then i can stop wasting time writing letters and do more overtime to throw at this debt!
  14. Hi, I have debts of £15,300 with HSBC. About 6 months ago after struggling to keep up minimum payments i turned to Payplan, and have since been making about £230 a month towards my bank account, my flexiloan and my credit card. The debt is just getting bigger and bigger. I have already written asking for my charges back, which i have been told will be refunded if the court case goes in the favour of the customers. I have had no luck with getting interest and charges stopped or even reduced with Payplan, so I am in the middle of writing a letter saying I am not making anymore payments due to the fact that my continued dialogue with HSBC hasnt gotten me anywhere. Ideally I would like the charges refunded and interest frozen so I can start clearing the debt as i want to move on with my life! Any tips on my plan? If anyone has any advice or experience or anything to add to my letter I would be very keen to hear. Many Thanks Steve
  15. Hi, I am in debt to the tune of £22,000, £15,000 of which is owed to HSBC. I have certainly learnt my lesson and no more credit for me. The debt is made up of £5,000 Credit Card £5,000 Overdraft £5,000 Flexiloan For the past year I have been writing to HSBC after they have gradually increased my interest, explaining my situation and asking them to understand I can only afford to pay a certain amount, no meaningful responses, so it left me with no option but to contact Payplan, I have been with them six months and despite making payments of £222 to HSBC everymonth my balance has increased, as things stand I will be paying money to HSBC all my life! I wondered about challenging the credit agreement, specifically the flexiloan, as no check was done, I was always struggling with my accounts, i simply went to the bank to see if i could extend my overdraft and came out with a £5,000 flexiloan - any advice on how to do this and what i should be looking for? Thanks Steve
