  1. Hi again heres an update to my problem with Vanquis I just rang them and asked why they had sent the credit agreement and IF they had done a credit search and score. They said your they did a search and its been recorded.. I said I did NOT agree to the search infact I said I did not want another search on my record and that their agent said he would have to scrap the application if I did not agree I said scrap it. This chap jon the phone just now spoke to his boss and they would remove the search but I would then not get a card.. I said fine just remove the search off my record he said he would. OK your help please do I have any rights to get this off my record if they dont do it? I never agreed to the search, what can I do now? He said I could check my records but I know you need to pay for that.. I am really not happy with MBNA / Virgin for giving my details to the Vanquis company at all.
  2. Hi everyone, I read this with great interest a I have just heard from this company. A year ago I had NO credit history always used cash, then I was taken ill and now I am at home all the time. I tried to get a credit card but was refused so I found Capital one and got one of their visa cards. I was looking for a real one this year so tried Virgin (NBNA) A week later Vanquis rang me saying I was refused by Virgin but they could help me. I said ok I thought 2 cards on my record if paid back in full would help my credit score. They wanted to do another credit check Virgin had just done one so I said no and said why I never wanted another search on my record. Man said ok I will delete this application and hung up. A week later I have a letter from them saying I have been approved and to sign the credit agreement and send back and they will send my card. As far as I know they did NOT do a credit search I never gave my permission for them to do one. I read above they have done this type of thing before sign the credit agreement then do a credit score. IF I did take this card I would only use it for small amounts and pay back fully every month. Now I am not so sure if even that is a good idea, I may just stick with capital one. Sorry for the long post but it may be of interest to someone else reading this thread.
