  1. Hi everyone, the bank gave me my money back. I cannot go into much detail as per the terms to the settlement but just to let you all know.....HANG IN THERE! Will make my donation as soon as my check clears. One down, one more to go. Thank you so much everyone.
  2. Barclays ahve offered less than half of what they owe me as "Full and Final Payment". Should I accept and ask them that they still owe me the rest or should i just down right refuse to take their offer? They said that if I am not happy then I should contact the financial ombudsman. Waht should I do. This offer came after the LBA. Help please.:?
  3. Hi everyone, I sent off my Pre-Lim letter last week, which Stuart Higley disregarded. On Monday I sent off my LBA and today i got this reply: ""I regret that there is little I can add constructively to my last letter and note your proposed course of action. I have alerted our lawyers and litigation department accordingly. May I please remind you that the address to use when initiating legal documents is that of our Registered Office........." Should I wait the 14 days or should i start legal action? Thanks for your help.
  4. I had a £5000 loan with barclays and i went into arrears. Eventually i was defaulted and the account was closed and the loan was sent to a debt collections agency. I am still paying it off but i was concerned about the interest on it and called barclays to enquire about this. After going through the security questions about the account in question, i found out that the interest on this loan was almost the same amount as what i took out. Apparently they told me that there also was interest being charged on the protection which brought the loan to over £9000 to be paid back. Now i believe they did not specify this when i took out the loan. Infact i did it over the phone and the whole thing had lasted about 15 to 20mins and they told me to just walk into any branch and sign the papers. (the biggest mistake of my life:( ) Anyway to cut the long story short, i asked them to send me a copy of the conversation i had with them when i took out the loan but they instead sent me a copy of the agreement/ contract and a leaflet to contact the Financial Ombudsman if i was not happy. Should I contact the Ombudsmans?
  5. I sent my DPA and got my statements. I then sent off my letter asking for my charges (£333) back and i got the following reply: ".... I apologise for any dissatisfaction caused by the application of charges to your account. We believe that our charges are fair, reasonable and transparent. We consider that the amounts debited to your account have been applied strictly in accordance with your agreement with us and our published tariff, which we are satisfied, complies with all applicable laws and regulations. We are also committed to ensuring the transparency of the information that we give to our customers about the operation of our products. We have considered the OFT's statement of 5 April 2006 and do not accept its findings in reltion to the setting of credit card fees. We are concerned that the OFT has publicly called into question the setting of charges applied to other products, including current accounts. The OFT has restricted its investigation to credit cards and made no attempt to consult with the RSB Group or the industry in relation to other entirely different products. Consequently, against that background, we must differ with the views you have expressed and will not be refunding any of the charges applied to your bank account." I do have a current account and they say the ruling was for only credit cards, which, by the way, the banks won as the OFT withdrew their claim yesterday. So where do i go from here? I also noticed on my statements that from Dec 2004 to Jul 2005, I was charged £20 in referral fee every month by my bank. What are referral fees and what are they for? Help me.
