  1. I have just returned to the UK after having spent 3 years living and working in Thailand. Am I able to claim Jobseekers Allowance whilst looking for work or do I have to satisfy JobCentre Plus that I am permanently back in the UK. The reason I have returned to the UK (I have no intention of returning to Thailand to live) is due to my father's illness (Dementia). I understand that in order to claim certain benefits, e.g. pension credit, I have to be resident in the UK for 3 months. By the way, I am 64 years of age. My question is really, can I be awarded JSA now or will I have to wait 3 months? Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
  2. There is definitely no issues with the debit card. Internet banking is zero pounds AVAILABLE. Internet banking is so much pounds ON DEPOSIT. There is no question that I have more than sufficient available (CLEARED) funds in my account. Yes, something I cannot understand also. All will be revealed tomorrow, I'm sure. Will keep you posted.
  3. Still no joy. Tried to withdraw money from an ATM but the card was declined - and so it goes on. Tomorrow (business day) it will be all back to normal I'm sure. Just the distress caused over the last few days.
  4. No payments are scheduled to leave my account Monday or Tuesday. I honestly believe that this is a bank system error thus preventing me from obtaining any money from my account over the Easter break causing me hardship and distress. I'm sure all will be revealed on Tuesday (business day). IF this is the case, no doubt I will get an apology from the bank but can I take further steps in this matter and lodge an official complaint (have all the evidence), with the bank or take this matter further by contacting say the financial omundman or whoever? Today Monday, I am again going to try and withdraw money from an ATM. Will keep you posted.
  5. I have just received a secure message from them in which they informed me that my account and card are both active and they see no reason why I cannot withdraw money from an ATM. They informed me to try another visa ATM. I will try tomorrow. In the meanwhile, I tried to make an online purchase transaction but the company said there was a problem in validating the card. Yes I have internet access to my account. There are no pending payments. I have telephoned their call centre but get the same response. It is not a recurring payment - and so it goes on. Will keep you posted.
  6. I have no overdraft on the account and I have not paid any cheques into my account. I honestly believe something has gone drastically wrong at their end. Showing on my online account is a deposit balance of x pounds and an available balance of zero pounds. I am still awaiting to hear from the bank and now it probably wont be until the next business day on Tuesday. Will keep you posted.
  7. On Thursday 09 April 09, I had a bank current account available balance of x pounds, but my online bank account showed a zero balance. On Friday 10 April 09, I tried to make an online transaction but my card was declined. On the same day, I sent a secure online message to my bank informing them of the problem I had with the online transaction and they replied informing me that I had an available balance of x pounds and my debit card was still active. Yesterday the 11 April 09, I tried to make an ATM withdrawal but again, my card was declined. Today, I have again sent a secure online message to my bank explaing that I am not happy and am awaiting a reply. Obviously, I am unable to withdraw money from my account or make any online transactions. For your information, my online bank account still shows a zero balance and there is nothing wrong with my debit card. Obviously this is a bank problem and over the Easter period I have been unable to access my money. Due to the bank's error and I able to claim compensation or will I just get an apology on Tuesday. Comments would be appreciated.
  8. I'm sure this question has been answered before, so please forgive me. Way back in 1994, my wife and I took out an unsecured loan with then Universal Credit. It either changed its name, merged or was taken over by Paragon Personal Finance. Unfortunately we could not keep up the repayments and decided to go for an IVA but again this failed. I have been sending Paragon one pound a month by online standing order from my UK bank and that all we can afford. The thought came to me as I am new to this forum, that would it be worth me sending a CCA request to Paragon? Furthermore, the loan that was originally taken out with Universal Credit was for five thousand pounds and I understand, what with all the interest, this loan is now more than thirty thousand pounds. For further information, I am working in Thailand and will not be returning to the UK and my wife is currently studying in the UK and will be joining me at a later date. Any advice or information would be very much appreciated.
  9. Can anybody out there give me some advice? I now live in Thailand and will not be returning to the UK. I have UK debt and have written to all two creditors offering to pay back a small monthly amount. Creditors are Barclaycard and Capital One and both being credit cards. Obviously, I intend to increase these payments hopefully when my financial situaton improves. I wrote a letter to Capital one some months ago offering to pay back a monthly amount. Then I received a letter from Debitas asking how I was going to pay back the debt. I informed them that I had sent a financial questionnaire and monthly offer to Capital One. I have now heard nothing more from either Capital One or Debitas. The other letter I sent to Barclaycard and offered a monthly payment and a firm called Mercers contacted me and asked again how I was going to pay the debt. I told them that I had written to B'card offering a monthly payment. I have heard nothing more from Barclaycard or Mercers. As I do not wish to ignore these debts, can anyone inform me as to why I have heard nothing from these creditors? The letters were sent in June of this year. It would be easier to contact my creditors by e-mail but cannot locate an address. They have asked me to telephone them but that can be costly here in Thailand.
