Hi kfdh1962, Should i send the council a letter complaining about the bailiffs and a copy of the Breakdown that showing the levy fee that they are trying to claim? and also should i send the bailiffs a letter telling them that I'm not going to pay them the levy fee and i know what they are up to? This is all very new to me!

Thats good news then. What do you think i should do next? if they say they have a levy should i get a copy of the goods they so say have listed and see what they come up with?

All i have a van that i use for work outside, can they levy it?

Update I have today received an breakdown from the bailiff's and this is it - Outstanding Council tax £79.12 1st Bailiff Visit (3/10/08) £24.50 2nd Bailiff Visit (6/10/08) £18.00 Levy Fee (15/10/08) £48.00 Attendance/Van fee (15/10/08) £90.00 total £959.62 less paid £779.00 outstanding £180.62 My payments to the council were made on 8/10/08 £650 and my second payment was on 30/10/08 of the balance 129.00. Should i just pay the the £180.62 their asking? is there anything i can do? Thanks all!

I moved my account as soon as lloyds cut my over draft (about a year ago) and carried on trying to take my load payments and credit card payments out and thats when the bank charges started to roll in! it was like a house made of cards! The phone calls are a right pain, all i gave them was a mobile so when my contract ended i changed my number

Hi All, I need some help on what i should do about my current account, loan and my Lloyds card. 1/ Current account opened in 1990 have £1500 overdraft with £1500 ontop in bank charges so now £3000. 2/ £6000 loan with lloyds now about £7000 with charges. 3/Lloyds Credit card £10000 with about £1000 charges included and i have had this card in about 1998. It has now been passed on to BCW who i pay £40 pounds to a month. I also pay lloyds £55 a month for the loan and current account but now things with them have got a little heated and i have just recived a letter from a solicitor (Sechiari,Clark & Mitchell) and they kelp ringing me all the time so i changed my number I would be very greatfulfor any help.

Update Thanks you all for your help, Becka - I havn't signed anything, thanks Had a letter from the Bailiffs this weekend and it says that they have initiated an investigation into the issues raised by my letter and they will respond within the next 28 days. but i should be aware that if my account remains open and outstanding bailiff action will continue whilst this investigation is under way. Why don't they just send me a breakdown of the charges and let me pay what i should have to pay? Could i just pay the first bailiff visit as the second one happen after i have payed off all of the council tax. could i do this? Cheers

Thanks again Kevin for the tips. some times i think its a lot easier to just pay them and get it over and done with! In the end its £140 pounds in my pocket and not theirs. cheers!

Update!! Had a Bailiff banging on my front door at 6.32am this morning and then pushed a demand for £180 through my letter box. So much for the 7 days grace the council gave me! They haven't put any extra charges on top this time so that's a bonus. I posted the letters off yesterday, one to the bailiffs recorded delivery and a copy with a cover not to the council 1st class so they should get them today and then we shall see what happens. wonder what time i will get my early wake up call tomorrow!

Thanks kfdh1962, I have just spoke to the council and told them i was not happy with these charges and the only contact i have had with the bailiffs are these two letters so why is it so high (£180) and could i have a break down of the charges. they replied that the charges look OK to them and the bailiffs have included a charge for delivering the letters in a white van. why should this be extra? anyway they are going to send me a breakdown and have given me a 7 day reprieve to get my complaint in. that's nice of them!

kfdh1962 : Council tax has been paid of in two payments first for £650 and the second for £129 direct to the council the last one being two weeks ago and the £180 are bailiffs charges. can they still charge me for the hand delivered letter today? as my council tax was paid up two weeks ago? thanks

Hi all, Can someone help me! I have paid all my council tax off online 2wks ago and my local council have confirmed it. I have received a hand delivered letter today from a bailiff (Rundle & Co) asking for £180 pounds by this Friday or they will take action against me I.e Bankruptcy,charging order or prison. All the bailiffs have done is delivered 2 letters and one of them being this final demand. Do i have to pay this as i have no dealing with them at all. Thanks
