  6. Hi, I bought my brand new Vauxhall Corsa from a Lookers Garage in September 2005 and took it in for its first service today. When I was sold the car I was told that it came with a years free servicing and 3 years free warranty. When I spoke to the unsympathetic receptionist on the Service Desk this morning and advised that I was bringing the car in for its first service (which I booked in advance) I was told that I should have had a letter stating that I was entitled to a free service from when I bought the car. I calmly explained that I wasn't told of any letter for the service to be free when I bought the car and hadn't received one. Her response was simply - you don't get a free service then meaning that I have had to pay £150 for its service. Has anyone had a similar problem with any garage and any advice please? Thanks Michael
  7. They sent me another letter yesterday demanding this month's payment be paid immediately and that they had charged me £55.00 in late fees already. I calmly picked the phone up today and actually spoke to someone with more than half a brain cell. He was actually realy helpful. I advised him that I sent the new cheque two days ago and cancelled the cheque that they had lost. He apologised for the letter and to ignore it as me sending the cheque and them sending the letter obviously crossed over in the post. He said to me that all but one charge had now been removed and that he had made sure that as soon as they actually process the cheque, this final charge will be removed. I am desperate to get my finance away from this company though, and never use them again.
  8. If I were you I actually would write to OFCOM and to Watchdog - I'm sure they are compiling many horror stories about 3. As the previous post said, I wouldn't pay anything but write to them demanding that they prove their side of the story first. As you were mis-sold the contract, they shouldn't have to charge an early termination fee - however they will probably require the handset returning to them as until you complete a full 12-mth contract, the handset is technically their property. In the phone company that I work for, I had to do this a few weeks ago. A customer had been mis-sold a contract and the phone call hadn't been recorded becuase the call was made before the system had been installed. So the only choice we had was to terminate her contract early without charging the termination fee and asked the customer to return the handset. You still have rights, even if you have sold your soul to the devil and taken a contract up with 3 haha.
  9. Didn't expect so many replies about contact lenses haha. Will give that site a try definitely. Now means I'm probably gonna cancel with Specsavers on Thursday morning haha!
  10. I am dreaming of the day I can afford to pay off my car. I am making them wait until I get paid at the end of this month until they get the cheque - two can play the game of ****ing around with my finances - but if they charge me, I will just cause murder with them seeing as I've been told on numerous occasions that these will be refunded. They have also stopped phoning me every day - they do when I send them a payment, and they stop when I cancel the cheque - it makes no sense! Monkeybone, I can't believe you have got your mortgage with them - I hate the fact that they own my car, if I had to live every day they had anything to do with my house I don't think I could cope - I hope they never screw you over, really I do! Will keep you informed when I get an evil letter off them next month no doubt.
  11. Haha I used to wear glasses but thought I looked like a propa geek so wanted contact lenses instead - me glasses were falling apart as well by the time they'd taken a batterin from me haha. I've got a Specsavers appointment on Thursday mornin so I think I will just say that I wanna try dailies - will probably cost a bit more but be worth it! Will have to just get up earlier for work for a couple of weeks so I'm not late
  12. God luck, hope it goes well for you and that you have better luck than I did! It's probably just my bad luck that everything seems to go wrong haha - especially with computers - they hate me for some reason! Let us know how ya get on!
  13. OK will probably try that. I'm in work now - one fell out of my eye on the way to work and the other has just been driving me crazy all day. Will just have to try and get used to taking them out every day then :-S I'm always scared that I'm not gonna be able to get them in in the morning and that I'll be late for work - how sad is that haha!
  14. Nice one Louise. Will get him to write a nice letter or pop into the branch and make sure that it gets swapped to a student account - then probably write a letter to request the refund of interest.
  15. I am just wondering if anyone else has the contact lenses from Specsavers that you can sleep in - I think they're called Day & Night. They cost £15.50 every month and you can keep them in your eyes for up to a week before having to take them out to clean them. My poitn is, I have been having loads of probelms with them over the past few months. They keep getting stuck to the upper eyelids and moving upwards on my eyes. This is extremely irritating. Does anyone have any other company or alternatives for the constant wear contact lenses - i.e. the ones you can sleep in. Other than the annoyingness, it's great to be able to see without glasses and without having to poke yourself in the eye twice a day. Thanks Michael
  16. OK Nice one. Do ya reckon sending a letter to Lloyds TSB asking for confirmation of what type of account he currently has and tell them that he was told he should be on a student account and that this would be changed for him. And then also throw in a request for them to refund all the interest - or is that just really unlikely to happen just by asking nicely?
  17. Well with any luck the lawyers I've got on the case will be good enough to get something out of it. I was referred to them by the legal side of my house insurance. So it's free The lawyer in particular who is dealing with the case deals with Medical Negligence. I've sent her a detailed chronology of events along with photos of my scar and a Medical Report Access form. So I've got the ball rolling at least - let's see how it goes.
  18. I have seen a lot of posts on here where people have asked for transcripts of conversations. You are right when you say that conversations are recorded digitally using computers so therefore under the DPA, surely you are entitled to either copies of the recordings or transcripts. This would help in this case where you haven't physically signed a contract for a mobile phone - it has been done verbally. Surely if they lost a copy of a paper contract - they would have no proof of an agreement.
  19. Sorry I am new to this site! I agree completely - this site is great! Sorry for any confusion guys!
  20. It is not an always on internet connection, they give you a dial up modem that dials up through your phone line but on a broadband connection meaning that you can use the phone at the same time. I would strongly advise against signing up with Talk Talk - their customer service is terrible, it's almost impossible to get in touch with a human being - you either get cut off by the machine or by the person you eventually get through to - I'm not exaggerating! We are now with Telewest (not sure if you will be able to get them where you live) but I've found Telewest to be great - no problems at all! Let me know how you get on! And remember, if you do decide to sign up with them but want to disconnect during your cooling off period (which legally needs to be at least 7 days from delivery/connection) they try to make you pay £70 just for connecting to their service - even accidentally - and then wanting to cancel.
  21. He said he was told that students shouldn't be paying interest and that he was on his standard current account. I think they were meant to transfer it to the Student account where ya get a £1500 Interest free overdraft - this obviously hasn't happened by the look of it.
  22. Hi, Thanks for your replies - I am a lot better now by the way . No one mentioned why there was a delay, they just seemed to ignore me when I asked a few days later. I do have lawyers looking into the case. I would feel better knowing that someone's life was saved whilst I was waiting, if they have a reason as opposed to an excuse that would be ok. I suppose time will tell. I'm waiting to hear from my lawyers at the moment. In response to the 2nd post, I would have had to have the op, but the scar would have been the small standard appendectomy scar, horizontal, barely noticeable and about 2 inches long - nothing compared to what they have left me with.
  23. Just thought I would share a victory against Talk Talk from the Carphone Warehouse. Me and my housemate signed up to their "always on" broadband service and landline. When we first realized that the broadband was dial up and not "always on" I tried to cancel it - after 1 day I was told I didn't have a cooling off period and that I had to pay £70 to cancel the internet. It was almost impossible to get through to their call centres - if the automated system didnt cut you off, the advisors did. Anyway, we cancelled our request to change to their Landline Services - they ignored that and changed it anyway. After loads and loads of phone calls and letters and moaning, we got our £70 Refund in a cheque, and to our delight one on my debit card as well so we made a £70 Profit ! They also don't seem to have cut the landline service off but arent billing us! Hehe!
  24. Sorry, I'm new to this site and didn't realise until after I had posted that everything was on this site. Didn't realise the forms were only for Small Claims - was only trying to help!
  25. I am currently in legal proceedings against the NHS regarding an appendectomy where I was taken to theatre much later than I should have been. To keep the story relatively short, I was taken to hospital by my housemate on the Thursday morning after throwing up constantly since the Monday evening and I now had stabbing pains my left side. The hospital put me on anti-sickness drugs and a drip and said they would keep me in overnight for observation. Overnight, the stabbing pains moved to my right side and I was in extreme pain. I was kept in a side room overnight where the Nurse Call button had been disabled - meaning that I had to phone the ward off my mobile on 2 occasions during the night. On the Friday morning, two doctor's diagnosed me with Appendicitis and said I would be taken to theatre ASAP. Throughout the day, I was just given more and more drugs, moved to a different ward, made to feel like an inconvenience - and was taken to theatre once my appendix had "perforated", this was on the Saturday morning at about 4am. I'm now left with a 4 and a half inch scar (as I am 5'3", it looks bigger ) and was off work for 3 and a half months. Do you reckon this case will go anywhere? Has anyone else experienced a smiliar situation? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks Michael
