  1. Hi there, I know! I am writing to them to complain as to the reason why my payments increased so much. Yes I had purchased some items the month before but to jump from around £30 to £95 a month was tough. When i contacted them to ask why it had increased this was the reason i was given, then when i informed them that under no circumstances could i be paying £95 a month from then (roughly July) to November or whenever she told me my payments would go back down. I told her that I was a student on benefits and although i might be able to pay off a lot from September when i get my student support she literally just told me my only option was to refinance the whole lot. She tried to get me into a 3 year deal depsite me saying id be ok come septemeber i was just in some difficulty as im a single parent and it was the holidys and i JUST moved into a flat of my own (rented) i only needed the year. The figure of £443 is correct but they add an upfront charge of £85 pounds as the 'interest' up front for the year finance. I think thts a scandal because it puts extra pressure on someone but anyway. That brings my total up to £500 odds. Yesterday I got my student support. I thought about paying £250 straight away to Littlewoods but since i refinanced the thing i thought i may as well improve my credit rating a litte and pay it monthly now I am back on track. They are wanting £40 odd a month but im going to pay £50- £100 depending.
  2. WOw thank you for that. i will start the ball rolling on the reclaiming. I cant bellieve that these people have been taking charges from me when the only money that gets paid into my account is benefits and basically leaving me with £10 for a whole week. i agree people should pay thier debt but this is wrong.
  3. hi thanks. the charges they have put on the account take a month to go on and sometimes they have taken me over...its nightmare. my branch have been ok about charges to be honest but not all the way. I have two small children and clearly on benefits. its hard enough to get by without being charged so much for trying to get by, a small charge, yes maybe not 28 pounds etc. now im about to get my degree, RBS should have offered me a student account but stated that i would not be getting anything near 1800 pounds overdraft on a student account. so Ive had to continue to pay up to £24 interest on the overdraft not sure if its every month... as i say, hard enough
  4. also, wht is the 'overdraft interest' for the sum they have taken RE: the template says. they are charging me a fotune in interest on my overdraft every month. can i claim that back? or is it just the interest accrued on the amount they have charged me in charges so far. sorry if that makes no sense i have not been to bed im so strangled with all this debt!
  5. Hi there, After reading through a lot of the information on this website (thanks btw) I have been wondering if its worth taking up a claim with RBS. I have had my account since I was 16 (im 23 now). I checked all my charges between opening the account and when I had my first child (and started getting benefits as a single parent) and the level of charges for unarranged overdraft is negligable. £10 here or there for instance once a year maybe when i didnt have an arranged overdraft at all. However, after I started getting benefits etc.....and had my child, I was in hardship and went through quite a lot of charges between then (2004) and now. From going from £0 overdraft to £1800 almost maxed out overdraft. I've been in receipt of benefits this whole time and some of these charges have brought me the situation where my benefits JUST cover the charges in order to bring me back within the limit, meaning effectively I have NO money to live on or sometimes needing to contact my dad to transfere money in to avoid a charge OR ive been in the situation were TWO benefit payements have been needed to get me out the (deep) red. At no point did anyone at the bank, while they have refunded a few charges for me, say...wait a minute, we cant actually charge you because you are on benefits...... Anyone know if i should do it? What grounds? the benefit/hardship thing? is there templates specifiically for this? where do i send them? DO YOU think ill get the money back?? ps, i was getting student support paid in for a while with my benefits but i was even MORE skint at this point so .... would they say on your bike hen? Thanks everyone in advance Alanna XXXX
  6. hiya, me again....i feel like im going crazy here. ok, remember i said that they wanted £250 off me for begining of next month. well i used the new account numbe they gave me when i set up this new CCA and they want, as stated, £40 odd quid a month. fine. but i will be wanting to settle this early or as early as possible and even though it (vaguely) states this on the CCA...the woman on the phone told me otherwise. clearly because i specifically asked about it....isnt this mis-selling? surely i can complain or have it revoked? or at least get this £85 fee taken off because it was a lie? also, about reclaiming the account charges for late payment from the previous (pre-refinancing) account.....could i reclaim them? I am on benefits and suffer from depression. Getting up to 8 phone calls a day from these people nearly sent me under no joke..............ok breaaaathhhe lol
  7. Also, i was told that there would be no early settlement fee but from this agreement i have signed there appears to indeed be a resettlement fee. !)amount of credit- £443.79 2) duration 52 weeks 3) amount payable - £ 529.25 12 monthly payments of £40.72 every 4 weeks followed by a final repayment of £40.61 5) APR 39.9% total charge for credit (added immediately) £85.46 6)interest charges have been calculated on a COMPOUND INTEREST basis using a flat annual rate of 34% assuming all repayments blah blah blah 2) Early settlement examples the following examples show the amount that would be payable to settle theis agreement early (based on £1000 credit rather than the actual loan amount) at the one quarter, half way and three quarters stages of the agreement. merely illustrative blah blah blah 13 weeks...£838...26 £608....39. £359 i know i SIGNED this but i was told over the phone NO early settlement penalty or charge. i didnt really read this as i said these people phoning me every day and making threats of court action so when this arrived i signed it and posted it immediately kind of thing what can i DO......it no 4am and i will NOT sleep now.......HELP!!!
  8. Hi everyone, pretty new to this place so here goes.... Over the last year or so i had an account with Littlewoods.com . I was meeting all my payments fine until a couple of months ago they suddenly took a hefty jump from around £30 a month to £95. I phoned to ask why this was and apparently it was the result of some purchases i had made and this would continue until Oct when they said it would go back to £30 odd per month. I told them I could no way afford this as I am on benefits but they just said oh well tough really pay up. Eventually I had a woman on the phone who wanted the money and when i said i couldnt give her it she said i should refinance the account. I asked her what this was and she said basically (if i remember correct) that it was the transferring of the amount (for a fee of £85 added ontop of the outstanding amount) which left my Littlewoods.com account cleared and able to get credit on it. Also, im sure she said it would be better for my credit rating because it was 'debt cleared' or something.... Anyway, the amount is for £500 odds by now after they have added the fee and she said i would pay it back over a year (kept trying to get me over 3) at a lower monthly payment. They sent me out the forms which i signed and sent back. they have confirmed reciept of this CCA as of 18th Sept. The letter says that I have transferred to an 'Interest Bearing Account'?!? . Also, when i chck my littlewoods statement online it says i have to pay £250 by 10 Oct :O eh wait a minute???? I have read the small print and have immediately, as of tonight, emailed the, to say I am cancelling this CCA for this 'credit bearing account'. If i had come across this site earlier i would have known better than to refinance anyway and taken other steps. now they have this new CCA!!!! when they probably didnt have the original one. i have my orginal customer copy and i see they have stung me with another CAA. Im raging. they are stinging me for £40 a month. i was under a lot of pressure when i signed this. the 2nd of Sept so i cant even claim within 14 days. im STUFFED basically. copied from another area coz i posted in wrong place doh!

  11. Hi there, first poster here, does bank charges mean if you get charged for going over your overdraft? I am on benefits and have been for years. I have an £1800 overdraft with RBS which sometimes goes over and i end up getting charged taking me even further over....because i need to wait for benefits to get paid in before i can pay it then it really leaves me in a pickle..ie, no money etc. its a nightmare. sometimes they will refund the odd charge if i plead hard enough or the money is coming in next day etc. Can i make a claim under the benefits thing?? I had money paid into the bank from the Student Loans Company and Students Awards Agency Scotland for a couple of years but i was still on benefits. Any help appreciated.
