  1. Six weeks ago myself and my partner bought a motorhome from a place in Kent. Its a fiat ducato based vehicle 1999 reg. We have financed it with Black Horse. We are based in Manchester and bought from this company down south as it seemed like a good deal and they claimed there are a reputable company. So we paid 16k for the motorhome full mot, years warranty, full mechanical check and habitation check. We test drove the motorhome and it seemed ok. However on the second day we drove with a view to going home to Manchester 2nd gear was crunching badly. To cut a long story short the synchro mesh had gone. The van has a years warranty but we insisted the company we bought the van from did all the running around and sorted it out as the warranty company wanted us to stand the bill if it was not a warranty job. So they did and the gearbox was fixed by a company in Manchester. The repair cost over £600. The breaks were also sqeaking badly and upon inspection the pads fell apart in the Machanics hands so these had to be replaced at our expense then the motorhome company sent us a cheque without apology. So we go off on a holiday to Scotland and low and behold fourth gear starts rattling like crazy so much so im too scared to use 4th gear in case i caused more damage. We have to cut our holiday short and come home and book it in with the mechanic again. All along we are informing the company we bought it from of our troubles. We havnt been able to use the van for last weekend and now this comming weekend we have not been able to enjoy one holiday in it yet without stress. Now the company we bought it from are claiming that when the gearbox was repaired it should have been inspected. So now the warranty company are sending out an independent engineer to make a report to see who is liable for the repair on this occasion. In the mean the company we bought the van off has upset the mechanic in manchester so much they end up swearing at each other down the phone. My Mrs has been dealing with all this so far. However I spoke to the guy who runs the company we bought the van from today as enough is enough. As soon as I became assertive and laid the case down that he sold us a faulty vehical he suggested i was ''jumping out of my pram and spitting my dummy'' trying to put on some kind of pressure. He became very mouthy and insisted we test drove the van and didnt have to buy it. He insisted despite the facts before him that the vehicle had a full mechanical check. There are also faults with things like blinds inside the vehicle which have never worked so would have not passed on a habitation check. I said i have lost all faith in his service and the faulty goods he has sold us and want a refund. He refused to continue to speak to me and played the victim putting his secretary on the phone. He even shouted in the background tell him we are going on holiday next week and no one will be here despite only just coming back off his holidays this week. It seems this so called reputable company has shafted us. I dont believe any full mechanical check would miss a crunching 2nd gear. The gearbox clearly has problems and had problems in the 1st place. Can we now say enough is enough and reject repairs and ask for a refund? It seems things are going wrong and we are expected to just get them fixed as and when as we go along via them and the warranty company. In the mean time hes kicking off trying to pass the buck onto our local mechanic causing us greater inconvenience as we have to wait while a report is compiled by a third party. How can we trust that nothing else is wrong with this vehicle? Where do we stand legally?
